FIRST TIME - trying to plan my experience

Hello Everyone!!!

Happy Christmas Eve - We just booked tickets for October. We will be coming from Boston to Las Vegas for 3 nights on the way in, and 2 nights on the way out - of our way to Hawaii.

First time, for my husband an I both in Vegas, and Hawaii. We have been dying to go to Vegas. We love to play cards, and enjoy the casino atmosphere. We don't drink or club, but we love adventure thrills i.e. roller coasters, zip-lining, all that fun stuff.

So my deal with posting here is, what would you suggest is a must check out for thrill seekers in Vegas, aside from gambling.

I am trying to find a map with attractions located on it? If anyone has a link - it would be greatly appreciated - but we are going in October 2014 - so I have some time to fill in the blanks here.

Thanks in Advance,

Crystal

I would check out the Stratophere. They have an attraction where you can jump off the tower and slowly lowered by wires at the end. There is talk about a zip line at Rio but it keeps getting delayed. Downtown has a zip line but would be pretty tame for experienced thrill seekers like yourselfs!

There's zipline just outside Vegas at Bootleg canyon. All ziplines are scary for me cuz I don't like heights so I can't say i it would be too tame for you. Definitely check out the rides at the Strat.

Thank you for the good info. I have heard about the stratosphere, and will def look into it.

I heard something about a zip-line that brings you across the strip, almost like a quick form of transportation, is this the zip-line at the Rio, that keeps getting delayed?

My advice for a first timer on a short schedule would be to not plan everything out to a T.....you will not see everything you want to see, and that will rush you through the things you do see. It is definately good to have ideas of what to do, but by planning it out, you're setting yourself up for possible disappointment.

A couple contributions for the original question....

The rides on top of the Strat are AWESOME! First time I ever actually had a snipit of a thought that I might not make it off the ride without.......my pants

Indoor Go-Karting is pretty cool. The track is slick and fun!

I've always been tempted by the indoor skydiving too.

Thank you - GREAT ADVICE. I've had that happened to me before. Great ideas too, i never thought of indoor go-karting. I need to work on getting an idea of what there is to do, and just going spontaneously, and letting whatever happens, happens. Whenever I go spontaneous, I end up having the best time.

Other choices would includes exotic car rental or racing experiences in exotics.

Or gun shooting.

Groupon usually has great coupons for these attractions.

www.digthisvegas.com always looked interesting to me but I have never tried it.

I have done the ATV's in the desert - that was loads of fun.

Great activity to see it all. The Bus. $38,00 will take you all over. You can hop off and then get back on. A bus come on the 1/2 hr. What a great way to see it all.

We have been to Vegas on the way back from Wesome Hawaii. Great way to ease back for us.

Have a wonderful trip. Don't over pack not necessary.

we went skydiving on my 40th birthday at Vegas Extreme Skydiving , it was a hoot!

3 miles over the area.. you can see everything.. cool freefall .. overall an excellent experience!

they will pick you up at your hotel too..

very reasonable cost if I remember right

and I agree on the Strat rides.. that tower one has some serious "pucker factor"

Check out Scoot City Tours. Not scary but it sure looks like fun. And they sometimes put out a Groupon as well.
