1st time to Vegas

Hi Everyone,

My best friend and her younger sister from Canada and I will be going to Legas for the first time this year sometimes in late april or May to celebrate her graduation this year. We would like to ask if you would kindly help us in finding affordable hotel deals, shows, buffet for both of us since we are on a budget (~$200-$300 per person excluding shared hotel room). Below are what we are looking for.

Travel date - anytime after 4/20 until end of May. Dates are flexible. We are going for 4 days and 3 nights.

Hotel- 3 stars and above on the strip that is close to everything. Budget ~ $50-$100/night.

Shows- We've heard to see Cirque de Solei "O" (is there any cheap tickets? How can we get them?) Any other recommendation of good shows?

Food- good/affordable buffets on the strip. Any recommendation or guidance in obtaining 2 for 1 price?

Activities- which hotels/attractions are a "MUST SEE/CHECK OUT" on the strip and what to look for?

Your help is greatly appreciated. Thank you

1st- yes, I and many would gladly offer 'advice'- but I think it's only fair you do some research yourself 1st..

Ex: "Hotel- 3 stars and above on the strip that is close to everything. Budget ~ $50-$100/night."

Is this total or per person?

Smartervegas is a great place for deals, and you'll book direct with the hotel, so can cancel rebook if a better deal comes up. Having a 5 week window is great- but I can't pick your dates for you, or at least don't feel as such.

But in looking for any deal on the site that went through April/May- 1st I could find was Flamingo, which I think might only be 2 star- but my point is I see 2 queens on May 12th for $44. the week before it'd $111 for the 5th- and the week after, May 19th it's $89. Monday is almost always going to be cheaper than Fri/Sat.

As for "Activities- which hotels/attractions are a "MUST SEE/CHECK OUT" on the strip and what to look for?" Again, you kinda need to do some research here. That list is 100's of items long- and looking at past posts- you'll find them already on here. From that list, it's a lot easier when you've picked what interests you, to give input on what someone else enjoyed.

You'll find some locations offer show tickets as part of a 'package'. You'll also get the best rates for a Cirque show off the Cirque site, or hotel site itself.

I'd expect some to say 3 ladies in 1 room with 1 bathroom to be something to consider. I've not done that so can't say

If you can be there Sunday thru Thursday nights (Sun -wed; Mon- Thur)

you should be able to get very favorable rates.

First great that you have flexibility in your plans. Try the travel sites and hotel websites find a room that fits your budget and book it. Make sure that the site offers a free cancelation policy up to 48 hours from your arrival. Than check online everyday you'll be amazed how much room rates change from day to day.

First Time:)

Stay during the week, don't go on weekends. Look for the rate calander and book direct with the hotel.

Always sign up for the casino rewards cards, each property has one. You get deals on meals while your there and future offers cause you'll want to return like me.

Always look for the food courts, every hotel has them, they're just really well hidden, they want you to dine at the fancy restaurants that are front and center.

There lots of into on here, just read.

1. Accommodation: I concur with Doug2000, FireballXO9 and chico39- I suggest you stay mid week as rates are lower than Friday and Saturday nights. Also, book directly on a refundable and cancellable basis so you can take advantage of any fall in rates.

2. It's warmer in May.

3. Age: are you all over 21? That's the strictly enforced legal drinking age.

4. Choice of hotel: I suggest you stay on the Strip- PH would be worth looking at- join the Caesars TR program to access the member rates. Another hotel worth looking at would be MGM which has a great pool area. If these are too expensive, try the Flamingo- it has a great pool area as well.

5. Food: there are many food courts attached to hotels- PH has a good one.

6. Shows: besides "O" there are several other CDS shows. Also, I suggest you check out Absinthe. Deals for shows are on websites like Smartervegas.com and broadwaybox.com

7. Check the bars at the Cosmopolitan

Have a great time:)

Keep in mind that you don't have to spend a fortune on a show. There are lots of shows that aren't that expensive and are enjoyable. Check out Vegas.com for dates and $ of shows for when you're there. Also,Ive stayed at a lot of the mid to low rent hotels on the strip and have never had a dirty room or bad service so I think that you can be quite happy wherever you decide to stay. have fun
