April trip with 2 nights fully comped and 2 at $25 each night. Platinum level card holders. Anyone have success lately getting upgraded to Jubilee?

First & most important, Bally's has two Towers; the North & the South Towers. The North Tower now represents Bally's standard set of rooms.

The Jubilee rooms are a complete renovation of the Bally's South Tower. A Jubilee "Luxury" room in the South Tower is what I refer to as the beginner's room; it looks out onto Flamingo Road. A Jubilee "Premium" is then considered an upgrade from that. I have stayed in a Jubilee Premium room twice already. The "Premium" would be an upgrade because it gives you both a combination Bellagio Fountain View & Paris/Eiffel Tower/South Strip View. Both times I've had a Premium room & have another one when I return back this Spring. When you arrive to check-in at Bally's, hold off & allow the registration agent to review the details of your reservation. Afterwards, politely ask whether he/she might be able to give you a complimentary upgrade to a Premium room; they might or they might tell you it'll be an additional, daily, charge. Then you can decide from there.

have you gone on totalrewards and just looked at what the price would be for all nights*or your 2 non comped nights) in the new jubilee rooms?

#5 brings up a very good point. Log onto your Total Rewards account & run a search; by applying an offer &/or do it by calendar date. Then see what end results kick back. If the Jubilee is a steal of a deal or isn't that much more, then cancel & rebook. If the Jubilee displays as being highly, more expensive, don't even bother to book the upgrade online. Just hold off until you arrive at check-in & then ask about a possible upgrade. Holding off can sometimes be cheaper than booking (an expensive upgrade) online using your TR's Acct.

Take as an example. Your current reservation is for 2 comp + 2 at $25 each ($50). Let's say once you run a search, the total charge for a Jubilee room comes back displaying $320.00 (for example). Don't bother! Instead, wait until you arrive & ask about an upgrade to a Jubilee; the agent might upgrade you for free or claim it'll be an additional @$40 per day charge. Obviously, a free upgrade offer would be a no brainer. Otherwise, let's take your original $50 ($25 x 2) + $160 ($40 x 4 for the upgrade) OR $210; it will be much cheaper than booking the upgrade online at a $320 quote. Do you understand where I'm going with this? About the only negative would be if the hotel didn't have any available Jubilee rooms upon the day of your arrival.

I have stayed at Ballys many times. (most recently in November) I have never had my room upgraded because I book the room that I want ahead of time. If the room you booked won't suit your needs, you should not have booked it. You should not anticipate/expect to be upgraded. (even with a bribe) It should be a pleasant surprise, if it happens.

I'm gold so probably don't get the same upgrades as you would as platinum...that said I was comped for five nights in November and when we checked in was offered the upgrade to Jubilee for $30/night. I took it and it was well worth it IMO.

We had the "premium" room with a great view of the Eiffel Tower, the S. Strip etc. I have been staying at Ballys for years and had always been happy with the dated South Tower becuase of the view. But now with the renovated rooms just so much nicer.

As platinum you may be able to get a free upgrade. All I can say is it was worth the $150 I paid inNov, which because I was comped originally meant I spent $30/night. A no-brainer for me.

Do the rooms in the south tower have tubs, or shower only ?

No tubs; they have a large, glass-enclosed shower only. To get a Jacuzzi tub, you would have to book one of their Jubilee Suites; two per each floor with one facing Fountain Strip & the other facing Flamingo Road. The Suite also has the added living quarters.
