Help Needed - Total Rewards Rooms

Need your help opinions of selected Hotels - 1st time to Vegas for wife.myself

Dates - 2 nights - Sunday - Sept 3rd & Monday - Sept 4th

Currently have stip view room booked at Orleans for $ 125 (Sunday) and $60 (Monday)

(will be rreturning to Orleans later in trip for 3 or 4 nights - Monday - Thursday)

Using the Harrah's Total Rewards reservation system , I can get:

a) Rio - strip view at $80 (Sunday) and 60 (Monday)

b) Flamingo - $110 (Sunday) and free for Monday

c) Harrah's - 150 for Sunday and free for Monday

d) Ballys - free for both nights - any idea if the Total Rewards comp room has any type of view

e) Paris - free for boith nights any idea if the Total Rewards comp room has any type of view

How are the Total Rewards comp rooms?

Many TA writers say if it is your 1st trip to Vegas you should stay on Strip but this is the Sunday/Monday of Labor Day weekend (very crowded?)

Some other info:

1) We will will have a car

2) We are in mid 50s

3) Like to play slots vs table games

4) Plan on visiting the various casinos & tourist sites on the Strip (may be better off waiting till 2nd part because of Labor day weekend crowds)

Total Rewards prices for selected nights for 2nd part of trip is much higher than the Orleans (70 a night)

We were in Vegas last Labor Day, and while yes the crowds were a little larger than other visits, it wasn't ridiculous. If it's your first trip I'd stay on the strip. Second choice would be the Rio. Bally's is a great hotel-- large rooms, good location. One of my favs. Im a total rewards member as well and rarely pay for a room. I've always got a strip view in the past, but I've also always requested it when I reserved. I'd recommend calling the hotel directly to book using your code for free rooms. Tell them you'd like a strip view-- I think you'll have more success doing this than booking online.

Have fun!

I've stayed in comped rooms at Bally's twice, both times I had a great view of the strip by asking when checking in, and once I was upgraded to a massive second to top floor suite.

If you arrive around early to mid afternoon, you will find the best room selection. Have your res. info ready, smile, be polite but not too talkative..i.e., be likeable and easy to check in

Paris free is the best offer..politely ask for a view and hope for the best

Ballys free is next best

the Rio has the best rooms of all, might be worth paying if Paris is not available

you may get a view at any, depending on availability..usually the clerk will be good to a comp guest as they hope you will drop money in the casino

I agree about Paris free being the best, I didn't catch that they were free-- thought you had to pay a little.

The Orleans will be good for those two nights, cheaper and since the Strip will be crowded probably better. they have lots of slots. their Coast card is good in all their hotels. ask what you get for signing up. what we got was double points. we like the buffet and it costs less than on the strip. Monday nights costs more as it's seafood night. there are other places to eat there, too.

I gotta say Harrahs is extremely generous to their AC guests. I too am going to Vegas for my first time Aug 11 for 5 Nights and I have my pick of their LV hotels comped with the exception of some of the better rooms at Caesars.

I don't understand it but hey 5 nights free..who cares if I understand it!

This week, I'd say go for the Rio, but try to upgrade to a Masquerade suite. Sunda/Monday night you may be able to get it for $100-150 more a night, which is totally worth it.

You can see everything from the South Coast through the strip and downtown, as well as most of the Vegas valley. There are also 3 shuttles from the Rio to various Harrahs properties, as well as the Gold Coast shuttle across the street to the BC (in case you didn't want to use the rental)
