Las Vegas Hotel

Any thoughts opinions on the LVH Hotel?

Sweet Jack has a 3 day/2 nt special going for $79 weekdays and $119 weekends. Have never stayed there. I know it is about a block from the strip and has monorail access.

It's more like a big parking lot plus 3 "normal" blocks from Las Vegas Blvd. and once you make it there all you have are Riviera and Circus Circus: http://goo.gl/maps/YQuuH

And... $79 seems pretty high. I just looked for our next dates in April and the AAA rate averages $57.56 for 5 nights including a weekend.

The LVH is a sad place. It used be the Las Vegas Hilton, it's now the Las Vegas Hotel. The price quoted is not a good rate at all unless it's over March Madness. The rooms, never fancy but basic, are now getting shabby. They pulled many of their slots and vp machines to cut down on the machine tax. Since it primarily caters to the convention crowd, there aren't many inexpensive dining options. They still have a good sportsbook, but sometimes it's not staffed sufficiently. It's off strip and the monorail is not cheap. Look into other options.

Agree. There's a reason it's so cheap. (That's $79 for TWO nights, right?) And I'm a former fan of the place when it was a Hilton, with more than a few stays under my belt. But no reason at all to consider staying there now, and honestly other than the Sports Book not even much reason to drop by the place.

The rooms and casino are fine... just nothing special. It's a great place to watch sports.

However, it's a long walk to the strip, and a really long walk to the part of the strip you want to be on. Plan on getting a monorail pass and using it a lot.

OK - yes I do know where it is located and not a great location. I haven't been inside in years, in fact last time we saw the Star Trek experience! I would only have even slightly considered it if you all would have said that was too good of a deal to pass up - so thanks for your help!!

The only thing the LVH (formerly Las Vegas Hilton) had going for it was the Star Trek Experience. Once they closed that the hotel went to ****. The base rooms at the LVH are boring, and from what I have read poorly maintained. There is NOTHING to do around the hotel except go to the adj. convention center, and The Strip, while it looks close, is actually a very long walk. Plus after you walk to the Strip, you will be at The Riviera and Circus Circus not the fun part of the Strip which generally ends at the Wynn.
