TR - Lost Luggage, Vows, Skydiving and Memories

Well this was my 3rd time to Sin City.

My first 2 times with my other half and this time as a group for my friends wedding.

Our flight was uneventful, we flew from London Gatwick to Vegas with Virgin without a hitch (until we arrived) Free drink to calm the flight nerves, I am a terrible companion to have beside you on a flight longer than 45 minutes. Before we knew it we could see the strip from the window and we have landed in McCarron. On our way through customs, we thought we were on a roll and would be checking into the Aria in no time. How wrong was I. Made our way to baggage reclaim and pretty soon, myself and my friend were standing watching the same pram go round and round the carosel. My heart sunk when the staff member came over looked at us and said the DREADED words 'We have been informed thats all the baggage off the plane' My OH offered to share his clothes - how he thought that would work Im not sure, but bless he was trying.

I have to admit Virgin was very helpful. Gave us an inciddent number and a freephone telephone and kept us up to date.

So off we went, I decided that this start wouldnt dampen my holiday. Off we went in a taxi and pulled up at the Aria. I loved my stay here. A quick check in and I had to head off to find a shop to get essentials and a change of outfit' After a stop in H&M, I landed back to the Aria.

Our first night was spend settling in and allowing the first timers to get their bearings. Me and the other half decided on dinner. We decided on Mon abi gabi, I seen this place on my last visit and loved the idea of the outdoor patio. Luckily we managed to get a seat outside, ordered a glass of wine for me and a beer for the OH. The view and atmosphere was amazing, seeing the fountains as the sun went down was magical. We both opted for the Steak Frites, mine with brandy peppercorn sauce and my OH choosing teh blue cheese sauce. 10/10 - I would recommend a visit.

Dinner and a couple of drinks, we decided to walk a little of the strip soaking up the late night heat and atmosphere and retired to bed.

Second day coming soon ......

Packing tip - ALWAYS co-mingle your clothes, including underwear. That way, if one case goes missing, you'll both have something to wear.

'Course, the OP probably realises that NOW!

Woke up early.

Freshened up and decided to take a trip to the Shark Aquarium at MB. Ever since I was a little girl I had always been fascinated with sealife. Grabbed a quick bite and starbucks and set off on our way. I have to say that I was disappointed, luckily we managed to get 2-4-1 passes. We never had a chance to look around the MB on our last 2 visits, I was amazed and how big the place was. From the entrance to the shark reef.

We opted for lunch at Ri Ra - I loved it in here, considering my mother is from Northern Ireland. We got speaking to the bar maid, she mentioned that the fittings, everything from the roof to the mirrors etc had come from various bars around Ireland. The food and atmosphere was great. We have a feeling we will be back here on our visit. AS I have only been to Nine Fine Irishmen at NY-NY.

As we left lunch, I received a call from Virgin to advise me that my case was being put on the flight that day and it would be with me by around 9pm that evening - Yippeee. This calls for a celebration drink. So we decided to stop at the slots and try our luck. The waitress was on hand, I ordered a vodka white and the OH a jack and coke. Put in $20 and won $146! Lets hope this is the start of my luck.

Back to the Aria, to meet up with the rest of our group. We have a trail for our hair, I am chief bridesmaid at the wedding! The staff was amazing and my friend looked amazing. I was in floods of tears, can you imagine me on the big day!

Before we knew it, it was evening and we had reservations for a meal and tickets to the Michael Jackson One show.

Our meal - at Mix. WOW the views are amazing here. The look on our other groups face was great, seeing the strip lights in full. We went for the pre fix menu. I thought the choices were good.

As for the show, being a huge MJ fan, I was in my glory. A real must for anyone who loved his music.

Thanks for posting and look forward to more. I do give you guys from across the pond from NYC a lot of credit just for making that flight!

I flew into Vegas for 7 nights starting with the Super Bowl weekend on virgin America and was left standing at 12:30 pm looking at an empty luggage carousel and no one came out to tell me you are poop out of luck... I proceeded to the luggage room and the clerk did her job and filed the loss, handed me the the form with the phone number to call and that after 5 days they would file some sort of report to receive some compensation for lost luggage. Very happy to report it never got that far. By the time I was about to get into a taxi to head to the Wynn the agent called to tell me my bag was held up in NY and they blamed TSA for holding it up with no explanation but assured me it would be in vegas by 6:30 pm and my bag would be delivered to the hotel. It took 5 hours, the bell desk left me a message at 11 pm. I was just happy I didn't have any show or fine dining reservations because, unlike your great advice, I was wearing sweats with very casual shoes. Next time I will follow your advice, very smart.

By the way did you get a credit to your account for the bag charge to use the next time? It didn't make it all better, but it saved me from having to write the complaint letter!

Wow, I feel for you since it is such a horrible feeling when your luggage doesn't arrive with you. Surprisingly, it usually does comes a day later. Happened to me while staying at the MO in Jakarta and also on a work trip to Kyrgyzstan. Each time the airline Thai and Turkish delivered to the hotel/office the next day. I always bring a complete change of clothes in my carry on for this very reason. Anyway, my heart sank when I saw your title and was happy to hear that it was to be delivered by 9PM the next evening. Thanks for posting. Waiting for the next installment.

Casinovisitor - we didnt get a credit, I just got $50 compensation for my one day to cover essentals. Had to keep my receipts and attach it to my complaint letter. But they did keep me informed so I couldnt have a go at them that much.

Mark DC - I have now learnt my lesson that I need to bring a change of clothes ;-/ lol!

Well on to the next day ....

The morning of the DREADED sorry highly anticipated sky dive.

The bride and groom were off to see the wedding venue.

Much to the disappointment of the groom - hes under the thumb

Why would you want to throw yourself out of a plane 2 days before you tie the knot !?!

(You will see later I changed my mind)

We were picked up at 7am from NY-NY where 2 of our party were staying.

We set off to Boulder City, around 30 minutes from Vegas Strip. To help us settle, we were handed our 'sign your life away forms' and a slight motivational video (which still give you the death ratio argh)

We arrived and where greeted by a great team, I loved them. From the minute we arrived until we left they were brilliant. We paid and where hushed off for our training. Now if you call 5 minutes laying over a poofy practicing our banana training lol. We then moved and got jump suited up, we got introduced to our instructors aka buddies. Mine was John, and I really loved him. He made me feel comfortable and promised me that he would get me to the ground safely. Much to his enjoyment and my horror, I was first. It took around 20 minutes to get up to 15,000ft, the view was amazing, over the desert, Hoover dam, lake mead and the strip. To be honest I really dont remember hanging out the side of the plane, but I remember everything about the jump after that. I cant describe the feeling and the rush that you get.

BUT I was so happy my OH managed to talk me into it. I loved it and its something ticked off my bucket list :)

Back to the Aria and in high sprits me and my other 6 skydiving adrenaline buddies decided to have a celebration drink at the Deuce Lounge. I was still buzzing.

I had a little afternoon nap while my OH went and had some time at the tables, I have to let him off his leash sometimes ;-)

Tonight's reservations was at serepidty 3 - I loved this place. I opted for the Jumbo crab cakes (nom nom) and my OH decided on the cedar plank smoked salmon. We are seafood junkies and this ticked the box. Still on a natural high from earlier (yes really) and maybe something to do with the bottle of wine we headed off to meet our friends at the Times Bar in NY - NY I love this place, just the atmosphere and I get a chance to have a sing song. We decided to pay the extra for table service as we were a party of 10. at closing and not wanting to finish just yet, back to the 24 hour bar in the Aria. After many many cocktails I looked at my watch 6.10am.

I did it! My first ever 24 hours in Vegas!!!

A quick stop for a pastry and coffee at Starbucks I literally fell into my bed

After our 24 hours in Vegas the next morning was spend by the pool.

I loved the Aria pool. When I started to feel normal I left the OH and decided with a couple of the girls to head to the outlets. For a little bit if retail therapy - nothing helps more than a new handbag and shoes :-)

I packed by bag as we were staying in the brides room, the big day looms.

Now for the hen / stag evenings.

The stags were off for a steak and a drink/gambling.

The hens had a reservation at Gordon Ramsey's Pub - I would recommend here. And then off to minus 5 at MC. Fun but expensive and to be honest living in Liverpool and Belfast for most my life I was used to the arctic conditions lol.

Off to bed early to prepare.

The wedding day.

Service started at 4pm. My friend looked beautiful and myself and the other bridesmaid scrubbed up well.

A limo picked us up and we started off to Bali Hai Golf resort.

This place is magical, my OH (best man on the day) described it has a golfers paradise.

The service was on a large open patio over looking the lagoon and fairways.

The service passed, I was mess. I cried from start to finish.

I loved how much attention my newly married best friends got from the staff on their day.

A lovely 3 course meal, followed by a 6 hour free bar (o dear)

Then of course as any traditional Vegas Wedding, Elvis came and performed much to the delight of the mothers of the groom / bride.

After a beautiful day, and now fuelled on love and many many Jack and coke, we headed back to the Aria, with a quick stop at the Vegas sign for some photos. I loved the reception the couple got walking through the casino and hotel. Back to our favourite place 'Deuce Lounge' before getting free passes for the Gold Lounge.

Leaving around 3am. Me and the OH happily skipped off to bed.
