3 nights isn't very long for a first trip. Where are you staying? I would land, check in, and start exploring, it will be a struggle to see the Grand Canyon, even a helicopter flight takes 5 or 6 hours by the time you have been collected from the hotel and been dropped off after.

Get a Vegas book, and mark a few things that jump out at you. Then starting from your hotel walk along the strip in a direction and see as many of the things as you can, wear comfortable shoes as even the next hotel can be a long walk.

The weather should be good, warm enough to spend some time by the pool if needed, but not too hot for all that walking. Enjoy your trip

Hi we were there at that time last year weather was very hot. As its your first time in Vegas and you are only there for three days would suggest giving GC a miss. You will be back most people want to go back after their first visit. Wouldn't plan too much you will want to see all the sights and the heat can be very energy sapping as you will be walking alot!! You can always pop into the nearest casino for a drink snd the air con. We also drove to Los Angeles about a 5 hour straightforward drive depending on traffic. Not too much to see on the way. Have s great time!!

My last time in Vegas (2010) was early September and it was 90 F all the time.

If you are short on time I recommend a helicopter to Grand Canyon, it's not cheap though (expect $250 dollars each) but well worth it, but quickest way to get there (45 mins by helicopter, if you drive 4 to 5 hours) - we had a tour that landed for about 30 mins and champagne lunch. Also flew over hoover dam on way out and over the strip on the way back.

What else are you looking to do? Shows, gambling, shopping, eating, drinking?

It will be nice and warm, different type of heat to what we get in the uk though. Expect mid 30s Celsius.

I'd agree with others, give the Grand Canyon west a miss. So much to see in vegas and your better off seeing the real Grand Canyon at the south rim when you get more time

I would suggest against even a helicopter trip to the GC. Sounds like you only have two full days, and there is just too much to see and do in Vegas. My son and his family live in Vegas, and we stayed two days with them, two days downtown, and two days on the strip. We had considered doing the Grand Canyon in that trip, but just didn't feel we had the time with this being our first Vegas Trip.

We're heading back this Sept. and will spend 3 days in Vegas and then 3 days heading to GC and on to Phoenix. Flying home from Phoenix.

When we were there two years ago in Sept. it was hot.

The weather will be rainy and very windy when you are there. When it's like that it's best to stay indoors as it's brown outside with all the sand blowing around.

3 days in Las Vegas and 3 days in LA before heading to Mexico? Is there any chance you could miss out LA and do more in Las Vegas? If not, then I'd give the Grand Canyon a miss... it'll be there next time (hopefully!)

We always go the first week in September and it is great. Rooms are plentiful and reasonable, kids are back in school, warm enough to enjoy the pool. Show tickets easy to obtain, especially mid-week. An absolutely wonderful time to go to Vegas. I agree with the previous posters, save your Grand Canyon trip for your second time to Vegas, you'll have plenty to see and do on the Strip. Do try to spend one night (not the whole day, just night) down on Fremont Street so you can see the canopy shows, eat cheap, drink cheap and gamble cheap.
