Older w. Moms so quiet please, thank you oh so much

We are considering the following Hotels (fridge?): Monte Carlo, flamingo, and treasure island. We have also looked at Tropicana (cockroaches and noisy +), and The Quad (numerous types of complaints and ripped carpets - also smells). This is only my wife, Helen, and her Mother, Shirley's second time to Vegas. Shirley has her 75th birthday coming up and there's no telling when anyone will be able to take her again. My Mom, Marie, is 71 and none of us have ever been to Vegas with her before. This is my third time there. I desperately want this trip to be special for the three most important women in my life. I hope I didn't lose too many of you with this length, sorry. Any info. At all is tremendously appreciated. Thank you with all my heart. Richard

Sounds like you are on a budget as there aren't any Bellagios, Venetians and Pallazzos listed. I'd do the Monte Carlo which ranks high because of its perceived value. It also has a free tram to Crystals/City Center/and then Bellagio.

Mobility will be a bigger issue for you then a refrigerator. If the old ones can't get around very well, then you need to nest them in a good hotel/casino. Fridges are free--just mention it on check-in about your need to keep your meds cold and they bring one right up. Tip the clerk who grants it. Tip the guy who brings it.

Dont let the reviews get into your head too much, and if the fridge ( is meds the reason?) be the sole reason for booking a certain hotel. i am pretty sure there are certain laws that will get you a fridge the many places in vegas, and if not.you can rent one there too?.

i have never stayed at any of the places you mentioned but heard good things from MC and flamingo may be more center strip where TI will be further down,.

I would say traveling with the most important women in your life will be a good one just as long as you can have them pretty much agree on where to go and when without too much debate.

What do you mean by "so quiet please"

My mom is nearly 74, I take her as often as possible, because she has some mobility issues, I always rent a scooter for her at the property we stay at, which is the MGM, it's easier for her to get around the property, which by the way, she only ventures to the slots lol we have to pull her away to go eat. Out of the choices you mentioned, I personally would not stay at the Quad, although it's being renovated, so it may be different from say 2 years ago.

"Monte Carlo, flamingo, and treasure island."

I would rule out Flamingo. In addition to it being a lower class hotel than the others, it does not have the quiet you seek, and it's casino is more active than the other two (not a good thing in your case).

Monte Carlo has a very spread out casino, decent rooms, and better dining options than the others.

Treasure Island is the only one of your choices which comes with a fridge in every room. The rooms are a little smaller, but nice. Casino is not as open as MC, bur not as compact or crowded as Flamingo.

Of the 3, Monte Carlo would be my recommendation, unless the price difference for MC is large.

Monte Carlo is your best bet here, rooms are very quiet and the casino is never rowdy. They also have some rooms with really nice large bathrooms which are like a wetroom which is clearly a godsend for those with mobility issues (not sure if the other hotels you have looked at have separate shower stalls or just "over bath").

Hi Richard

I have traveled with my parents who are now in the late 80s for many years to Vegas. We used to stay at Tropicana as it was convenient to drive up and stay in the wing off the parking lot - the hotel declined over the years and we stopped staying there. I believe its been renovated but seems to be gearing towards kids with the pool - I last looked maybe 1-2 years ago, so I cannot recommend.

Since then I have taken them to Paris. It is mid strip. Moderate price. Its a short walk from the strip to the lobby and elevators. There is one central bank of elevators (3 branches) so hard to get lost. Pool is small, shade available and not too noisy off same elevator bank. Small casino - easy to maneuver. If more gaming is needed then can walk through indoors to Ballys. The coffee shop has a coffee/danish window for a quick fix in the morning. Buffet is decent, a short walk over to Planet Hollywood - they have a nice mall and a better buffet. Caesars is a bit of a walk but a better buffet and some nice restaurants. Dinner after dark in the Eiffel tower restaurant would be a highlight of any trip (a bit pricey). Easy to walk to Bellagio fountains and other locations. Jersey Boys is a fun good show or they might prefer the Rat Pack at Rio.Consider a car- valet is free and will save lots of walking. You can hit Red Rock Canyon for a short scenic drive, Valley of fire for a longer one and hoover dam. Advise the ladies in your life to bring comfortable broken in shoes, moisturizer and drink plenty of water (hit a supermarket or walgreens on arrival). Dont plan to do anything the day you arrive or leave - the time difference will wipe you out. Try not to book when its too hot....April May are great,,,June to August can be brutal - we liked early September after the kids left.

You sound like a nice man.....hope your family enjoys your trip.

Oh and many rooms have a fridge - or ask

The cheaper places get bashed on reviews because people see strip and expect the ritz carlton for $50 per night. When they actually get what they paid for they get upset and post about it.

Its like trying to find a news story about planes landing safely. Even though the vast majority of them do you never hear about it.

If it were me I would choose Flamingo because of its location. If mobility is a concern it is right in the middle of everything plus the renovated rooms are supposed to be pretty nice. With the location comes a better selection of affordable foods as well. This is something most people dont factor in. Thats 3 people 3 meals per day so it can add up quick even if you are watching the budget.
