Sight seeing in Las Vegas

Hi,

My family of 6 adults have one night and day in Vegas in July just to sample the atmosphere!

We are booked into the Venetian Hotel and wanted to enquire whether that was a good centrally placed hotel to give us a bit of the flavour. Also does anyone know of a "best of Vegas" sight seeing trip that we can book on to?

Wait to hear and thanks in advance

John

The Venetian is a fine choice. In fact it is one of the larger tourist attractions on the Strip. So even if you were to stay somewhere else, you would go to see Venetian anyway.

If you're there just for 1 day don't need to book a trip. You're better off by yourselves on the strip.

The Venetian is a great hotel with a good location.

You're best sight seeing in Vegas for 1 day to catch the Vegas atmosphere is actually a casino and resort seeing, and you can do that by yourselves.

You may want to stay on the main area of the strip, along from Mandalay Bay to Wynn. The properties thar are worth to visit are:

Mandalay Bay, if you have time visit the Shark Reef aquarium

Luxor, take pics of the pyramid and sphynx

Excalibur just from the outside, no bother to enter

MGM is just nice, no need to spend much time there

NYNY is great and fun

Paris, you should go to the top of the Eiffel tower

Bellagio, enjoy the fountains show and make sure to visit the Botanical garden, it is free

Caesars Palace is beautiful and make sure to catch the Fall of Atlantis show at the Forum Shops

Mirage, enjoy a volcano show at night

Venetian, visit the Grand Canal Shops and catch a performance on the St Marks Sq

Wynn is another beautiful property.

You can go by taxi from the Venetian to the other end of the strip and then walk your way up casino hopping. No arranged trip will take you to those places.

"Go to Neon Museum and see the old signs from yesteryear." - With only one day/night I'd skip downtown, you'll have plenty to do on the strip.

While Neon Museum is a good choice, I wouldn't recommend it for a one day trip. Stay on the strip, you'll be busy enough just with the main sites.

Juan's list is excellent. I'd add the Cosmopolitan Chandelier Bar if you have time. And I always go and visit the waterfalls at the Wynn, if you wanted something specific there.

Oh yeah sorry I didn't notice it was only for a day. Don't waste your time hit the center strip hotels and look in awe at all the details they each have.

All you need to do is plan on 'walking the strip'.

If you are serious about it- you can easily do 6 hrs and plan on 6-8 miles.

Do a search of must do's and go from there.

Wear very comfy shoes

I would not call Venetian center strip. I think it is beautiful, and the rooms are nice. To me, though, Paris, Bally's Aria, Cosmo would be more center strip Either way, have a wonderful time.
