Sam's Town

Hi this will be my 5th trip to Vegas, we have none the shuttle to Laughlin and are thinking about taking the shuttle from Harrah's ( staying there) to Sam's Town, just to get away from the strip, see something different...

Has anyone been there recently??? Is it worth the time? Is there anything else accessable near by S.T.'s ?

Know of any other hotel shuttles that can take us to a new place??

Thanks and Cheers.

The Atrium at Sam's Town is absolutely gorgeous durin the day, with all it's natural sunlight. It is a very ralxing place to have a drink at the bar or sitting on a park bench.

There is a shuttle which goes from Ballys to both Gold Coast and Orleans every 15 minutes or so. Bioth are worth checking out.

I agree, the atrium is pleasant but the casino is smoky and the crowd is an older group. Western clothing store upstairs is big and well stocked. It is worth an afternoon but nothing exciting.

Do try to catch the show at the waterfall inside the atrium. It is corny, but fun.

There is nothing else near sams town, but check with harrahs when you get there they use to run a shuttle to the rio on the other side of the highway. It is is one of their properties and a large casino and you can spend many hours there easily. If you like seafood there is a separate Buffett for that a little pricy but unlimited lobster among other things.

My wife and I stopped into Sam's Town on the way to somewhere else a few years ago.

She's not all that impressed with most places, but she took in a movie at the cinemas there, wandered around the atrium, and had a really good time while I gambled, etc.

It's Sam's Town, after all and not an all-day trip across the desert. What's not to like?

Go. You'll enjoy it.

Worth doing. Large casino, bowling, cinema, popular with locals buffet.

Whilst there cross the road and check out the Eastside Cannery which we liked. Cross other road and checkout the Longhorn casino. Join players club and get your free cookie :-)

I went there because I like the Killers and they're second album was called and had a song called Sams town, I wouldn't say there is anying amazing there, but it's good to spend a few hours there, the cinema is good and you get to see what some of the real locals are like.

Sam's Town is a nice place to visit for a change of pace. As others have said, the atrium is nice, and a good place to sit and enjoy a morning coffee. The casino is not as smoky as some casinos on the Strip (eg. Flamingo, Excal., Casino Royale, Ellis Island). Good gaming options, and found the slots not as tight as on the strip - imo.

The shuttle from Harrahs makes it easy to get to without a car - Eastside Cannery is right next door (5 minute walk), and their is a large Walmart right across Boulder Highway.

I second everything bikerbear221 just said. My husband and I really like Sam's Town and have received free room offers from only playing there a few hours each trip. In addition to having a Shepler's upstairs, there are also some slot machines and video poker. I like playing the nickel video poker multi-hand progressives upstairs. Also, very good cocktail service upstairs.
