Hi, Will post as a reply
My friend L works for a company that always has a booth at Global shop. She lets me stay in her hotel room for free. I help set up and take down the booth for my keep. We flew out of Columbus at 8:45 on Sunday 3/21. No issues although it was odd that the pilot came out and gave us a little speech before taking off. i.e. what a beautiful day to fly and thanks for flying South West. She also gave way more information about where we were and what we were seeing during the flight. it was cool.
We checked into the Monte Carlo around 11 AM Pacific time and got a room that was ready. We were given a strip view room, probably because we said we stay there every time. True!
The room was fine as usual, bathroom drain worked perfectly as did the TV. We went over to MGM grand in search of lunch. I had heard about Witchwich (sandwiches) but after searching the MGM grand we finally were told it was closed. Finally had lunch where else but at McDonalds. After that we slotted aroung MGM grand for awhile but no love. I finally found the Lion Share machine but there were three people lined up to play. I told them I just wanted to look at it. Then we came back to MC and went out to the pool for a while. It was hot and nice after the winter we have had.
Later we got cleaned up and drove out to Red Rock Casino because neither one of us had seen it. Had dinner at the food court and played around, No real Luck. I was ready to go but got stuck at the cash machine. It took my ticket but then just froze. I finally found an employee who came and gave me my ten dollars. I thought that was too much to just walk away from.
Day 2- L and I had bagels and coffee at NYNY and gambled around a little. I was even. Her employee who was to fly in from the East Coast to help put together the booth had her flight cancelled so the two of us were able to get it done by ourselves. Quite an accomplishment! Our reward was In r Out burgers for lunch,. Had a cheeseburger and milk shake because I think their fries are terrible. Cold and limp.
That evening we drove downtown and played at GN no love. Went to Downtown Grand to cash in some free play there and won at the Roll the dice machine. We used out free $10 dining credit at the spread and were served the worst Chicken Noodle soup in the world. It took at least 30minutes and then they just let it sit. When we asked about it she said "I don't know why he didn't give it to you, it is sitting right here!. Terrible service and food, Also served a croissant with no butter available.
We went back to MC. I won a little bit at the Dragon machine, had a quick wrap snacker from McD's and went to bed.
L went to work this morning so I took the WAX bus downtown. I love Main street station but found no love at Black Jack or Three card poker. I won some back at Kitty Glitter (I hate that machine) and Multiple Double diamond. Played $3 BJ at Fremont with some fun ladies from Canada.. Tried Texas Hold em, won a few hands but lost in the end.
Took the SDX back to Venetian to pick up my ticket for Rock or Ages that night. Had lunch at Venetian. Wend back to MC to clean up and rest awhile.
Walked back down to Venetian for ROA. Loved the show! The music was incredible and it was so funny. I didn't quite get the attraction or sense of charisma between the two main characters. He seemed about 16 and she seemed closer to 25. Also, it was heart poundingly loud. I finally got used to it but might sit further back next time. I could see why some people just thought it was too loud.. All in all a fabulous show!
Took the bus out to Orleans because I had never been there. Got killed at Blackjack and 3CP. Also, no love on the slots but did get a good hot dog at the sports book. I liked the Orleans but more video poker machines than slots.
Had a McDoanlds sunday (best deal in town for $1.19) and went back to MC for rest.
Walked down to Paris for my usual evening with the Jersey Boys. It is my all time favorite show, have seen it 8 times in LV. It did not disappoint. I got my ticket from Better Vegas and was in the 2nd row. Love it.
Wandered through the Flamingo and Quad where I was up $20. Yea!! Slotted around a little at Bellagio and then took tram back to MC.
Day 5. Took WAS back downtown to Main Street. Won the first three hands at BJ and thought I might have a luckier day. Finished up at Blackjack and did well at 3 CP at the D. Played 3CP at the D with some really fun people. Probably up for the day but had to walk back to Main Street Station because I forgot to cash a ticket. $20 worth walking for.
Took the WAX bus (so convenient) and went to Del Taco for lunch. We are not big foodies, More like food court queens.
Had to do my job this afternoon and help take down the booth at Global. It went quickly with three people. We drove out to SouthPoint that evening but were not feeling it. Came back to MC for a final gamble and then home in the AM.
This is the best type of friend. Free room and I get to spend the day hacking around LV by myself.
May get to go back with hubby in Sept for 30th anniversary.
Final thoughts: The construction in from of MC does not impede traffic and Rue MC still has all lanes open.
Hershey not open yet. Lost $10 betting on the Buckeyes, should have known better. WAX bus is a great way to get downtown. Self parking at MC is very easy and Frank Sinatra drive helps you beat the traffic.
Ask me if any questions. Had another great trip!
"The room was fine as usual, bathroom drain worked perfectly as did the TV"
OK. I have to ask. Why did you mention that the drain worked perfectly? That's not something I usually bother to mention in my TR's.
You must really love Jersey Boys. I think that's great. I understand. I have every song the Four Seasons recorded. I grew up in the City. We had Janice & Grace & Bill Graham and the Fillmore and the Avalon. But for me, there was always room for the Four Seasons.
Sounds like a very nice trip. Thanks for the report.Edited: 01 April 2014, 22:19
Great Trip Report. THanks for posting it up!
Enjoyed your TR yes Jersey Boys is one of the best.

Sometimes in review of the Monte Carlo hotel people have talked about an issue with the shower drains not draining very quickly. That is usually annoying to me when it happens in a hotel so I just noticed it at MC. Since you can't do a hotel review more frequently than every 90 days I could not post a hotel review. So included it here in case anyone was interested.
You mentioned you got tickets from ? and were in the second row - is that on line or once there?
thanks for the info
I got the ticket through Best of Vegas. It gives a discount code the then puts you through to ticket master. You can still pick your seat. It gives you an upgrade to the next tier of seating for the same price. The only problem is that you can't cancel so I wait until I am only a few weeks from the trip so there is less chance of an emergency arising. Then you take your receipt to the box office to pick up the ticket but the sear is already determined.
