Aria buffet question

For those of you who have used the Aria myvegas buffet voucher, did you have to pay taxes? In the Terms and Conditions is says "Guest responsible for tax and gratuity." Tax on what? The amount of the buffet?

In a restaurant they always add tax onto your check when you pay.

At the buffet they would do the same thing so with the voucher you just pay this tax but don't pay for the price of the buffet. Short answer YES, on the amount of the buffet.

I used 2 Aria buffet rewards (lunch and dinner) and I didn't have to pay anything more. Just tip your server.

If there's no charge for the food surely there cant be any tax as there's no taxable item being sold is there?

Aria buffet was good. I was there 2 weeks ago and paid for dinner there, but Bellagio lunch was better. M Resort best for me.

Thank you all for the comments and answers.

I just thought about something though. May be you have to pay taxes on the vouchers that are 2 for 1 but they just put that statement in all their Terms and Conditions for the buffet?

There have been ongoing disputes between the state and the casinos on whether comped food is taxable. Currently it is not. I think some of that fine print is to cover their bases if the wind blows the other way.
