Can someone explain Parasol Up/Down for me?

Is it just a bar? I read something about some type of "show". Is it worth a look?

Parasol UP is on the casino floor. It is a fairly large bar with many tables. A very nice place to meet for a drink and conversation.

Parasol Down is one floor down on ground level. Part of it is indoors, but there are also tables outside overlooking the Wynn lake. In the lake at night there are shows (music & lights). Obviously conversation stops during the shows, and many are drawn here for that reason.

Wynn is a very nice hotel, but it really isn't a tourist attraction like Bellagio, Venetian or Caesars. It is worth a visit, but none of the individual attractions (lake show, waterfall, golf course, botanical entrance) are worth making a special trip for.

By far the best way to see the lake show is from the patio of one of the restaurants. Dinner at SW Steakhouse should take at least 90 minutes and allow you to see 3 shows.

BTW: This is not an accident. Steve Wynn considers the Bellagio Fountains his biggest Las Vegas mistake. He designed a fantastic attraction best seen from OUTSIDE of the hotel. He won't ever do that again. Everything at Wynn is best seen from inside the hotel.

I'll add that Parasol Up / Down is also a beautifully designed space. It's a great place to go at night, just to soak in the atmosphere.

They also have delicious chocolate martinis.

We have been to Vegas twice and absolutely loved Parasol Up/Parasol Down. We found The Wynn in general a really wonderful escape from the bustling strip and worth the trip to just explore it. It is very posh and beautiful and luxury in general, but doesn't have the crazy amounts of people like the Bellagio.

We went to Parasol Down one afternoon for drinks and it was such a great place to sit in the sun and have the general sound of the waterfall, very peaceful. They also have a great drink list for non-alcoholic drinks as well. We enjoyed it so much that we went back at night for another drink, this time to watch the shows on the waterfall. Again, it was quite entertaining and classy and in my opinion one of the prettiest spots for a quiet drink with friend or loved one. Service was great too.

If you get to Parasol Down and want a patio table but there aren't any available go near the hotel check in which is close to Parasol Up. There is a balcony off there with a little bar as well that overlooks the fountain shows and some extra tables. Basically the same view/feel but just up a bit higher than the ground level Parasol Down and you can see the shows from there. Up there there is no waitress coming to your table to get take drink orders but there is a bartender at the bar only steps away and he was excellent.

I think it is worth the trip if you are looking for a nice quiet place for a drink, my preference would be to go at night to see the interesting shows.

Photo I took of a drink at Parasol Down in the afternoon. It was non-alcoholic and probably the most refreshing drink I've ever had. https:/…set-72157635549001446

Photo I took of the beautiful decor in Parasol Up/Parasol Down https:/…set-72157635549001446

Hope this helps.

Just note that drinks are in huge $15~ range per. Very cool spot but not recommended if you're on a tight budget.
