Brisbane -LA-LV still confused

Help! I must be old but I am still confused. we are travelling from Brisbane to LA with a 3 hour layover then onto LV. all with Qantas and they said our luggage will be checked through to LV. do we go through immigration and customs in LA or LV. I am wanting to book a Limo rather than get one outside the airport but after hearing about them charging extra for wait time of international visitors thought I had better ask. so will our flight from LA be a domestic flight and we would have already cleared immigration, so we will only need to get our bags?

1. You clear Customs and Immigration at LAX, then recheck your luggage for the flight to Las Vegas

2. Qantas and American Airlines have an area where they assist you after you have completed the entry formalities

3. You will arrive in Las Vegas on a domestic flight at the domestic terminal, and you can quote the domestic flight arrival details to the company which is arranging your limo

Bon voyage!

By way of clarification, when you check in to your flight in Brisbane, Qantas will give you boarding passes for your entire journey, and the baggage will be labelled for sending to Las Vegas

Los Angeles is your international entry point to the USA, and hence they will process your arrival and check your bags there

Once you have done that, Qantas and American Airlines take back your bags and convey you to the appropriate domestic terminal for your next flight

Usually, this is straightforward, but time consuming

If there is a flight delay, the local folks from American Airlines will assist you

Bon voyage!

Getting yourself from one terminal to another at LAX is your responsibility, not that of the airlines.

If you're arriving on a Qantas flight, it will be at the Bradley Terminal. You'll need to switch to Terminal 4 for an American flight - I'm assuming that will be the case as those two have a codeshare arrangement. Those two terminals are within walking distance unless you have mobility issues.

Here is the Qantas guide to transfers (from their website)- as you will see, Qantas offer you a complimentary shuttle

The complimentary inter-terminal shuttle is a free service offered by the airport for anybody to use. It has nothing to do with Qantas or any other airline.

I fly through LAX a few times each month. I think I've just about worked out how things operate there by now.... :-)

thanks so much you two. has cleared that up. I really thought I would not see my bags until vegas, but couldn't work out how they do immigration and customs without seeing my bags. now I am fine. no mobility issues here until after a few wines. lol. and no I wont be doing that on the plane. Qantas lounge, I wish, we are only cattle class, but have priority pass membership, but only tried one of those lounges in Singapore and they were not comfy at all, would rather be out and about. well now I can go book a limo, yee ha!!!!
