How long do you stay at one slot machine?

Just curious, we will be in LV shortly (yay!) and I like slots. Couple questions...

Normally at the Indian casinos I play for maybe 20 minutes on a $20 bill and then go to another machine. I'd like to get comped drinks. How long is the time from ordering a drink to receiving drink usually? Want them to be able to find me...

Also, just curious, if you play slots do you stay at the same machine for a long time? Bounce from machine to machine? What's the reasoning...

Thanks!

Depends on how much I like the slot & how much I won or lost.

If I like the machine and I'm getting good cocktail service I will stay for quite a while, if one or the other is missing I'll probably move.

It does not matter. The machines are programmed to take money from you. If you are lucky, you might have one return more money than you put in for a while. There is no system or other way to beat the long term fact that the house always wins. If you want to win, learn how to play poker, as this is the only gambling game that actually is based on the skill of the player. You can also win at Blackjack if you know how to count cards, but the casinos know how to identify card counters and if they think you are doing so they will throw you out. I look at slots the same way I look at a video game. It is a way to have fun for a while, maybe get a few free drinks. If I win, I win, and if I don't it is the cost of having a bit of fun. Ultimately, somebody is paying for the electricity bill for all those lights on the LV strip, and it is not the casino owners, it is primarily the people playing the slots. Anyone who tells you anything different does not understand the basic laws of mathematics and probability.

When I played slots, which were all mechanical reels back then, I would choose 25c machines with a pretty low jackpot. Certainly below the W2-G limit. I would run through a 20. If I didn't get squat, I would leave. If I doubled it or better, I would set a loss limit. If it gets better, I'd raise the loss limit.

I still think this is a good philosophy today. And yes, I know how the machines are programmed, and the results predetermined. I just think you have to have a system for extending your bankroll. It caused me to walk around a lot, which saves money. ;-)

Not one second. Why would I gamble my money against a huge house edge? Baccarat, BJ, or Craps. I get to lose less of my money over the long term. Nothing at all appealing about slots.

Local Casino, Same machine, went to it the same time of the day, same day of the week and I have come ahead three weeks in a row. Not a lot $200 a week, but know when to go, will help you beat the odds. Fun for me not to lose!

I count the number of spins until I get some sort of payout. anything.

A fun slot should pay our at no more then 6 spins.

if it gets to 10 plus then I I bail.

I stay anywhere from a few minutes to hours. It really depends on how often it's paying out. Sometimes I wander. It seems that the biggest hits I've had on slot machines occur within the first 10 or 15 spins usually.
