Check Cashing - Aria Casino

The concierge at Aria said i need to bring a blank check and photo id. Once the verify the account, they will let me know how much i am approved to cash.

Anyone know how long that process takes? I dont want to drive to airport, then fly across the country with all my gambling cash (even my low roller amounts)...

I was going to bring a bit of cash and a few blank checks to cash when needed. Is this an instant process?

Thanks

Why not take travelers checks and not mess with all that? All casinos take travelers checks

Why wouldn't you just bring your ATM/debit card with you to withdraw cash as you need it??

I don't see the point of carrying around blank checks or even traveler's checks which these days are quite old fashioned!

I will certainly take my ATM card with me, but why would I pay 5-10 dollars to pull money out each time, if there is a way to do it for free?

If it is a huge ordeal, i will do ATM, but it sounds like an easy process (from what I was told), I just have no personal experience doing it this way.

My wife & I just bring our debit card for gambling. we take out a days budget & we bring a days budget in cash. We pay the Fees , we consider this insurance. Just take a days budget at a time, of course we bring a credit card also, just in case.

Travellers cheques maybe old fashioned but should NEVER be phased out.

They are safe, guaranteed, easy to use and FREE,

Placebets- The two banks where I bank locally (where I could get free TC stopped carrying them). The other two in town only provide the service to bank customers or charge an outrageous fee for non bank customers..

I have always taken the Amex TCs but just not an option this go round.

Call the Aria main switchboard number at 702-590-7111. Ask for the Casino Cage. They'll tell you how long it takes. It should take less time than setting up an official line of credit. My guess is they can do it more or less on the spot, although that may take 10 - 15 mins and you'd probably be better off doing in the middle of the day during the week rather than at 3am Sunday.

What the concierge told you implies that they will actually check your checking account balance (via a third-party service) and then set your limit based on it. You'll probably be asked to sign something to let them look at your balance.

We don't do traveller's checks or ATMs, since we usually have enough cash. Charge everything on our credit card. On those rare trips when we have terrible luck gambling, we just set up a check-cashing account at the hotel we're staying at. Takes 20 minutes to set up, and 5 minutes each time thereafter. Or, if it's convenient, we'll head to our bank branch ATM, to avoid the fees.

Riff M - and what is it about travelers checks that makes them old fashioned?

TheBrownHound - that stinks ! I can still get them for free where I bank and have used the for about 40 years. Regardless of whether or not they are "old fashioned," they are safe and extremely easy to cash. Too bad you have to pay ridiculous fees to get them.

Placebets- it does suck. What makes it worse, is that I work at the bank. I completely forgot we stopped carrying the Amex cheques until Friday.

I did call aria, and made it sound like it takes just a few minutes to cash a check. I'll take enough cash to get me going. Maybe I'll hit a hot streak right off the bar and won't have to worry about cashing one. Lol.
