Live Trip Report - sort of ...

Hi

I am currently here and having a blast

Since I spent several weeks gleaning tips from this forum before coming it seems only right to offer something back - bit it's going to be more of a series if thoughts than a full TR

DAY 1

So flight was fine - BA from Gatwick - if you are tall like me I thoroughly recommend the extra £50 they charge to choose the emergency exit row - it made the journey much more bearable.

I had prebooked a sedan from Bell limos to avoid the Tunnel issue - this was great - the guy was waiting for me and got me easily and smoothly to the Bellagio

I am really glad I chose the Bellagio. I am 40 and fat and travelling Solo for the first time and Bellagio suits me fine . It's a good location - room is spacious and very nice. I had no balls for the $20 trick - but frankly I hardly look out the window and the fountains are not really my thing !

For day one I stuck with exploring Bellagio and a trip over the road to Planet Hollywood and Walgreens.

I tried out some Video Poker having done my research and practised online - managed to break even and even carry a little profit (until you count in my food and drink costs)

I am doing the envelope thing for budget - but without the actual envelops - so have my bankroll in the room safe and only taking out a daily limit and refraining from any ATM visits. But I am rolling over any unused budget - so I have extra for day two already.

Ate at the Earl of Sandwich - A Reuben - this was very nice and cheap - spent some time in the Petrossian Bar in Bellagio - this was nice but not cheap !

Day Two to follow ....

Love the report so far! My first trip and also solo is down to 22 days now. Love the description "40 and fat"!

Day two

So this is the second of my week long trip.

Despite being late to bed I couldn't sleep so was up and out at 5.30am

Yesterday I had found the heat unbearable for walking around the strip so took this early morning chance for a stroll- not that it was much cooler!

I covered the strip from my home base at Bellagio down to Wynn - zig zagging and going in and out of casinos to cool off.

Going elsewhere did much to confirm my choice of Bellagio as places like TI were fine but not a patch on B

I did though like Wynn but really thought it was too similar to Bellagio - but without the fountains !

On my way back I stopped at Hash House a GoGo for breakfast. This place gets lots of reviews on here so wanted to check it out.

To be honest I couldn't see why people recommend it- it felt dark and not very classy. It's hard for a Brit to comment on American breakfasts because the meal itself is so alien to me. I hadn't a clue what most of the menu meant but chose the Corned Beef Hash.

This was surprising on a number if fronts. corned beef usa style is completely different to what a Brit will expect - it's basically shredded meat ?

The hash came in a skillet and had a piece of melon and orange in the skillet too !

I enjoyed the food enough and the portion was predictably huge for the price - but it's not a place I will rush back to.

Had a couple of hours nap then out to gamble on some more VP - with poor luck losing all of yesterday's budget and some of today's

Then over to Miracle mile for Armando Vera close up magic show and Nathan Burton. I have reviewed these seperately - but both great.

Bought KA tickets at the Tix Tonight booth and then went up to MGM Grand via Paris and avoiding several "comedy characters" and barely dressed showgirls trying to get me to have a photo !

MGM is huge and was packed. Had a couple of drinks in the bar and researched my VP disarster of the morning. Decided I needed to play smarter and located some full pay VP machines at NYNY - so headed over the walkway.

In the space of an hour I got back all my losses from the morning :-)

Back to MGM for KA and was blown away ( but still struggled to stay awake - jetlag !)

Was hooked now though so back to NYNY for more Full Pay VP - played through to 2am and hit a royal flush and a few 4 of a kinds so left with $1700 from an original bankroll of $300 for the day ! Treated myself to a cab back.

Oddly the unusual highlight of my NYNY visit was being approached by an escort asking if I wanted to have fun !! I politely refused but was secretly flattered !!!

Although it's likely not exactly rational to feel flattered, I'm sure I would as well. lol
