Depends on your taste, Westward Ho, Sahara, Riviera, Circus Circus, Stratosphere, Excalibur, Imperial Palace and Tropicana are all less than luxurous.

"all the hotels are fantastic and worth seeing"

No offense, Fallon, but it looks like you went pretty much "high end" all the way around. Agree with VM that there are actually MANY hotel/casinos not worth my, or anybody else's time visiting, unless you happen to be staying there. Let me add the Boardwalk casino his list. (Unless you enjoy scary clowns and the buffet featured on "Vegas Vacation").

There right. I would suggest anytime hotel management has decided to schedule demolishment or "thinking" about rebuilding it is not worth your time. A hotel should either be providing the best service possible or closing their doors and not in the middle ground of just getting out of town suckers through the doors.

let me add tp that list the Starcrust..j/k! The Stardust, it used to be nice way back in the day, but has lost it's luster compared to the bellagio, Venetian and Mandalay bay!

Cali,

Even in it's day the Stardust couldn't compare to what these new resorts offer. Look for all that to change in the next 5 years or so. With 63 acres to work with they have some great plans coming for this property. They haven't let the employees know what they are yet. They rumored new name is Borgata West. Ask anyone who's been to AC in the last year what that resort is like.

You guys shouldnt bash hotels just because they are "less than luxurious". Some people dont have the bank roll to go and blow on a room that you spend less than an hour awake in and even just visiting some of these hotels is part of the experience. The Stratosphere always gets a bad wrap because of its location, but there is some cool stuff to do there like going up in the tower and riding the rides, checking out the view. I think people come on here to get good advice, not to be scared into changing there reservations 60 times just to compete with snobs that have more money than sense.

BJP is correct - their are hotels on the strip that meets everybody's budget and style. Those on a budget would prefer the Startosphere at $59 over the Bellagios $300.....

And how can you compare the Stardust with the Bellagio???

Or the Tropicana to the Manadlay Bay???

VM is correct - thier is no comparison based on when they were built - what does Circus-Circus, Tropicana, Stardust, Riviera have over the Manadlay, Belagio or even the WYNN -

History - if it were not for these hotel, thier would have been no Las Vegas StripVegas Strip!

Each have their own problems - Just like the Bellagio and Manadlay - but each also have their areas in which they each excel over the other.

I don't believe many folks are bashing "less than luxurious", but mostly those places that are downright crappy. I realize that EVERY hotel in Las Vegas has folks that stay there and like it and will defend it. I am of the opinion the purpose of this forum is to steer folks to at least mid-range properties that offer good value rather than the cheapest "I hope we get a decent room that doesn't stink" hotel. Each to his own.

I definitely wasn't bashing hotels. I just can't believe hotels don't have the MONEY stay clean with nice service. Once the word demolish is used in a hotel sentence, then they should no longer charge for their service.

I look at this forum as an advisory/ opinion forum.

I for one appreciate when someone comes back from LV

and says that a particular hotel was less than appealing.

I was looking at the Sahara, cause it looked like a cool hotel but after reading a few comments i realized that saving a few

bucks wasnt worth it. On the other hand I had never been to the MC and appreciate the comments on that hotel. It seems like a nice mid range/newer hotel that i will probably be staying at.

I appreciate the honest viewpoints that are found here.

you like it when you hear nice things you also have to allow

the negative things.
