Unless you are a particular fan of Jimmy Buffet, I wouldn't waste your time with Margaritaville. If you're going to eat at a chain restaurant, cross the street and walk to the right (north) over to the Fashion Show mall and eat at Maggiano's.

After dinner, walk back in the direction you came from and keep going on that side of the street until you get to Bellagio and join the crowd that gathers to watch the fountains. After that, you can play slots anywhere you like.

As for staying at Imperial Palace, I wouldn't worry too much.

It is not the best and maybe its the worst hotel at the Strip, but, it is not that bad. It is clean.

How ever I will not eat there.

There are other places to eat that are much better and not much more expencive.

First thing to do, is walk south, all the way to the end (You will know when you get to the end), then cross to the other side and walk balk.

That will keep you busy all night (Stop at any casino that you interested and have a drink and whatever)

Make sure to visit, Caesars Palace, Wynn, Mandalay Bay, Monte Carlo, Bellagio, Mirage, Venetian and Paris

If you are not considering any jet lag, then you could do what MusicMan said. It will take you all night and it will be a very long walk. Wear comfortable shoes.

If you are a little weary from your travel, step out of IP, turn right and get a drink at Carnival Court (Harrah’s). Go across LV Blvd and see if the Mirage volcano is going. Then south in front of CP to Bellagio water show. After show, cross back To Paris, To Ballys, To Barbary Coast, To Flamingo.

With sightseeing and a little gambling, that should take a few hours.

When we arrive on Jan 1, by the time we settle in it will be about 6 pm. My plans are to walk outside Bally's, take it all in, and then as my empty stomach begins to rumble, I plan to walk across to Caesar's, pop into Stage deli and order the Chicken and Rice soup and a sandwich. Yep, that's what I plan - what I actually do is something else.

Choc

Trust me here's what you need to do. Soon as you get to your hotel and throw your bag down, go jump up and down on the bed and scream. Don't break the bed though you may need it later :). Then go to the casino and find a 25 cent Wheel of Fortune slot machine. Put in $20 and play the max spins until you get a Bonus spin. You should hopefully get the Bonus before the 1st $20 runs out but if you don't change to another machine and repeat until the bonus spin comes up. If you get more than $30 on the bonus, cash out find another machine and repeat. Don't forget to order a cocktail or two while you're playing. After cashing out after your 2nd winning bonus spin celebrate by having another drink. Go take a stroll down Vegas Blvd, by now you'll be seeing people with pastel colored hair and or possibly walking down the street drinking out of containers that look like male organs. You may pass by some hispanic people passing out porn leaflets (insert your own joke). Go check out Pure in Caesar's. No need to go inside sometimes the show out side of the club is better. People watch for awhile and then go find food and celebrate your 1st 2 hours in Vegas!

I agree with przyk, if you just want ti kick back and have fun and relax that first night go out the door if the IP and take a left and you'll end up at Jimmy Buffet's Maragaritaville. Great food and drinks and fun atmosphere.

If its not freezing cold, go south from IP to the Paris, eat on the deck at Mon Ami Gabi and watch the Bellagio Fountains while you eat.

that will definitely convince to return. Mon Ami might cost you about $75 for two but its having a meal in view of the fountains will set the mood for the visit and its not very long of a walk.. Yes there are a zillion good places to eat. You should see every casino for what it is.

But there is something to the fountains and the music that definitely says las vegas.

If you want to conserve cash, grab some McDonalds or Burger King and stand next to the fountains and eat.
