Questions about one day in Laughlin

Hi

My husband and I are going to Laughlin from Las Vegas in March for the day.Our bus drops us off at Golden Nugget and gives us a $5.00 coupon to be used at any restaurant at the hotel.

My husband is a non gambler and I love the slots. Any suggestions or advice you can give us? We are estimating our time to be about 6 hours in Laughlin. What can a non gambler do to pass the time? What casinos do you suggest that have updated machines?

I have heard alot about a restaurant called In & Out Burger. Is it worth the walk to it?

Thanks in adnavce

Sue

Without transportation, 6 hours for a non gambler might be a long time. But there are things to do though. I'd talk a walk on the Colorado River Heritage Greenway Park and Trail commonly called "North Reach Project". It's an easy walk along the river - very flat and across the street from the Riverside Casino. You can also walk along the river next to the casinos. At the Riverside Casino there is a classic car museum (free), two areas where they have antique slot machines (also free). You can actually play the antique machines at no cost! There is a small outlet mall across the street from the casinos that alot of people get great deals at. In & Out Burger is a great burger place. It has a great reputation for serving great burgers at a great price. It can get pretty busy, but the wait is worth it. If you like burgers - go there. Not sure about slot machines. My experience has been that there is a huge variety of slot machines in each casino. You better watch yourself though when you get to Laughlin. People who spend a little time there can't wait to come back! Please write back and tell us how you like the place. Viva Laughlin!

6 hours shouldn't be hard to fill. The car museum has been mentioned but the riverside also has a bowling alley and a movie theatre. There are 2 riverboats that give a 1 hour tour of the river, one at the riverside and the other, I believe is at the Aquarius. There is a theatre in the outlet mall. The riverwalk goes along the river and has places to sit and he can sit and read and have a beverage of his choice. Or just people watch. Most casino's do have small shops in them. If he is afraid that the riverwalk is too long there are river taxi's that will bring him back for 4 bucks. He should not have a hard time wasting 6 hours.

Hi

Really like Harlow's in Golden Nugget, good food. If you want more than a cafe then they also have a Saltgrass Steakhouse, very good. Seafood lover's, they have a Joe's crabshack right on the river.

The in &out burger is good but with a coupon I'd stick to Harlow's.

We did the Riverside boat trip up to the dam, that's pretty good for the price and not too long.

No one answered this part of your questions- " What casinos do you suggest that have updated machines?"

Laughlin is a great place to play some of your old favorites that you can't find anymore. Probably Aquarius and Harrah's are the most likely to have the lastest machines.

In & Out Burger is a west coast burger chain that is pretty good. If you never haved tried one, this might be your chance. You can get regular restaurant food anywhere. It is located a short walk across Casino Drive near where you are dropped off.

Saltgrass is arguably the best restaurant in town in my opinion.

Any of the restaurants at the Golden Nugget are good. Depending what time of day you are going to be there and want to eat using your $5 coupon you have several options. Harlows has good, inexpensive specials. Good burgers too, though not as tasty as In-N-Out Burger.

Saltgrass and Joes Crab Shack are nice but the $5 won't go far there. Joes is nice if the weather is good and you want to sit out on the outside deck on the River.

I agree the newest slots would probably be found at Aquarius and Harrahs, but the ones at the Golden Nugget (at least for penny slots) aren't too out of date.

The River Walk is nice, it probably takes 30 mins to leisurely walk from the Golden Nugget to the Riverside. Hope you both enjoy your visit!
