Crab Legs

Will be coming to Laughlin in a few weeks for a long week-end. Just wondering where the best place is to have crab legs?

Thanks, cswis

No one has crab leg suggestions?

We will throw in ours. You can't go wrong with Joe's Crab Shack in the Golden Nugget. Although you will get less than you can at the various buffets, we think they are much better.

Almost all the Laughlin Casino Buffets also offer all you can eat Crab Legs on the weekends. At least on Friday, Saturday. In order of preference we have preferred the crab legs on the buffets at

Harrahs, Aquarius and then Riverside.

Hi

We had sunday brunch at the Golden Nugget (very nice btw) and they had crab legs. We are not impressed with any we have eaten in the USA so tasteless. We must be spoilt with our north sea crabs, small but very flavourful.

I would agree with the Joe's Crab Shack suggestion - being from the pacific NW where we get fresh crab on our boat - its hard to find good crab away from home! We have had crab at Harrah's buffet but it was not very flavorful at all!

When I travel to Laughlin, I try to avoid any sea food. Laughlin is too far away from the ocean and the distribution takes time. By the time it hits a persons plate it is no longer fresh. Of course it is easier for me for fresh seafood as the ocean is only a two hour drive.

Harrah's Friday night seafood buffet is hit and miss. The first time we had it the crab legs were wonderful. The second and third time - not so much.

Just an update, walked past Joe's Crab Shack today and they were gutting it. Apparently closing to change to a Bubba Gumps. So no more crabs at Joe's anyway!

Juaradawn, there's a reasonable chance you can use your voucher, assuming the remodeling is finished and the new place is open for business by the time you get here. Landry's Restaurants, Inc. has divisions and subsidiaries that own both the Golden Nugget Laughlin and Bubba Gump Shrimp Company. Landry's owned the Joe's Crab Shack chain at one time, but sold it years ago. Somebody posted in this forum a long time ago that Landry's retained ownership of a few selected Joe's Crab Shack properties including the one in Laughlin, but didn't cite a source for that information. If that information was correct, then the ownership really isn't changing, and it's likely that existing obligations will be honored. They may not publicize such a policy, though, so you should ask about your voucher before being seated. If they won't take it, so be it, but it never hurts to ask.

We had purchased and used our Landrys select card at the Joe's Crab Shack in Laughlin. So, at least the Laughlin one had been owned by Landrys. A gift voucher for Joes may not be usable at Bubbas but as jk said, it never hurts to ask.
