Planning surprise 50th birthday party for husband

We have been to Vegas a few times, and always enjoy ourselves. We've stayed at Ceaser's, Paris, New York-New York, etc. We like staying on the Strip!

For my hubby's 50th, I thought a surprise trip there and have several couples meet us there could be Part 2 of his surprise.

Now, has anybody have any experience planning something like this? Any fun ideas on where we might do "the" birthday dinner where food would be great but not too expensive - as I'd like to pick up the tab for everyone flying there for this.

Also, if anyone knows of any place I can get discount rates on decent (4 Star) hotels on the Strip, I'd be so appreciative!! And any other fun ideas to celebrate with a group of about 10-15 people would be great.

Thanks!

If you have been to Vegas I would check to see if any of the casino's you have played at will give you a discounted room. I know they sometimes will extend a discount for "friends and family". Check to see if any of your friends have players cards too. We usually go with friends and will create combos to ensure we get the best discounts. I would suggest you ask friends what they prefer for hotels. Honestly most of the places we have stayed have been fine and your friends will make it even more fun. We are actually planning this for New Years to celebrate one of our friends birthdays and there will be a group of about 20 of us.

Food is so subjective that it is hard to know what direction to go...you may want to look at restaurants.com for discounts. This would be the perfect opportunity to get one of the larger ones and have a nice meal without having to worry if you will meet the minimum. Groupon also has discounts that you can gift to friends. We are using one of these in a couple of weeks with friends of ours (like us, they love a discount). Restaurants are all price ranges in Vegas! Look around and figure out what you are willing to spend if you are picking up the tab--could be pricey!

Have fun planning!

Great tips, thanks so much! I am visiting Biloxi, MS right now and they have plenty of casino's here. I'll sign up for those Players Cards here and go from there. Again, thank-you!

We did my 45th bday in Vegas with a large group and it was a blast! A couple thoughts ...... instead of picking up your friends airfare, maybe pay for their hotel instead. This way you can assure that everyone will be in the same spot and since you are picking up the tab, you won't have to worry about too many differing opinions. We stayed at the Palazzo and it was awesome. If we do it again we would add the 'Prestige' (concierge) service. This would provide a great gathering / conversation spot for your group and provide light meals and cocktails.

We also rented busses and did a "casino crawl" ...... this was a blast!

Have Fun!!!

Wish I could pick up the tab for everybody's airfare, but no can do! I only plan to pick up dinner and drinks one night at a designated restaurant. If you can suggest any particular place to eat on the Strip that has good food and maybe a seperate dining area for parties, that would be great. We also will be looking for a hotel for all our guests to stay at on the Strip too...decent (4 stars) that maybe we can get a group discount on? Thanks!

We had a blast! 8 couples, all met up in Vegas. My husband was completely surprised. I organized a scavenger hunt and divided us all up into groups of 4 (no one with their spouse). This last about 2 1/2 hours and we ended up at Margaritaville for dinner. Next day, the next surprise, all the husbands were picked up by limo and they went out to the LV Speedway and drove ferrari's, lamborgini's, porches, etc. That night we went to Firefly restaurant. Excellent trip!!

Sounds perfect! What hotel did you end up staying in?
