a few questions

We are taking the flight out of Portland, OR on one of the junkets, has anyone did this? Does the airline offer drinks? If so do they take cash? Which of the three hotel casino should we pick? Peppermill, Rainbow or Montego Bay? We don't care about swimming pool. Which is the best resturants? Steakhouse and also buffet?

I believe they have drinks on the flight, but I can't remember (not an indicator). The flights are fairly light hearted, and they try to make it fun, so I don't know why they wouldn't have drinks. There's usually a little gambling on the plane as well.

I stayed at the Montego Bay and liked it because it was across the street from another non Peppermill casino, so that was convenient. There's shuttles running non stop to take you to any of the other Peppermill casinos, so you can get around pretty easily, and I can only comment on Montego Bay rooms. They weren't bad, but nothing spectacular, either.

I would definitely recommend the Rainbow Steakhouse. far and away the best meal in town. I imagine Bimini is similar, but didn't try it. You'll get a coupon book that has a buy one entree get a second free for the rainbow, make sure you use it. We ate at the restaurant at the back of Montego Bay, and I was disappointed in pretty much everything. The buffet is probably a better choice. Very good selection, although it's fairly pricey as I recall.

There's a Mexican place in the casino across from Montego Bay (Trina's Tacos?) that was quite good as well

I have left comments all over with regards to the hotels and the food.

We go to WENDOVER from Milwaukee, WI about 3-4 times per year. The flights are always very nice. They offer a free snack (crackers that they need to change) on the way there. There is no other food available to purchase. They do offer a free beverage of water, soft drinks, or coffee. You may purchase beer, drinks, etc at $5.00 apiece. The same holds true for the flight home, but you get cookies (need to change) instead of the crackers.

All of the properties are nice as far as the hotel rooms. The nicest of the three in most people's opinion would be MONTEGO BAY. I guess it all just depends on the "luck of the draw" as far as where and what type of room that you get at each location. This has never been a big deal for us as after all, how much time are you really in the room when you go on a gambling trip??

FOOD...the STEAKHOUSE is the BEST!! I love the place, but they are now closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. I have tried BIMINI 3 times now, and will not go back. I don't think the food, service, or ambiance is even close to the STEAKHOUSE.

All three restaurants are pretty similar and fairly good. All three buffets are pretty similar and fairly good. The Friday night SEAFOOD BUFFET at all three casinos is DELICIOUS.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Brian,

Good post. My wife and I are going there for our 1st time with my older sister and her husband. They are from Northern Wisconsin near Chippewa Falls. We will be staying there at Montego from the 24th to the 27th April. Will you be there then? I'd like to buy you a beer at the Montego Bay where we will be staying. Thanks again for the good info. Just a quick question to you. Have you ever been to the Mississippi Gulf coast? We live next to Biloxi, which has several nice casinos there as well. Just wanted to try something different this time. I grew up in Wisconsin and have been living on the Gulf Coast for the past 15 years.

Chacyn05,

What a SMALL WORLD!! no, we will not be in WE|NDOVER when you go later in April. We only go on the Trips to WENDOVER that leave from Milwaukee. We are going to miss the next two (May and June) from Milwaukee as we have things going on at those times.

As long as your expectations are not too high, you will enjoy WENDOVER. Just want you to realize that it is NOT Vegas. And that is what we love about WENDOVER, it has all the fun of Vegas, without all of the congestion!!

I said that it is a "small world", because my wife and i have visited BILOXI each of the last two years in the summer. We plan on going again this year, probably in late July or early August.

We really enjoy BILOXI. We have seen and heard all the things anbout the devastation of Katrina. We drove to New Orleans from Boloxi two years ago and really didn't enjoy it. Last summer we took the boat to "SHIPWRECK ISLAND".

We have stayed at the IP both times and really like it there. We will be staying there again this year. We are not big players by any stretch of the imagination, but are well taken care of there. We met a GREAT Casino Host, and he takes good care of us.

Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns with regards to WENDOVER.

THANKS!

Brian

Brian,

You are right saying it's a small world. It's about a 15 minute drive to the IP from where i live, and we really like the IP as well. Maybe someday we will see each other at Montego Bay, or IP. If it's IP i'll treat you both to a great buffet as we have plenty of comps there. We are mostly penny slots or nickle, so we aren't big players as well. They have a really good comp program there. Boomtown next door is good too!

Chacyn05,

YUP, the BUFFET at the IP is very good. Yes, we really enjoy their COMP SYSTEM also. And I would have to say that Boomtown is my next favorite casino.

My wife and I are just PENNY / NICKEL Slot players like you. We are by no means big rollers.

You are going to find in WENDOVER that the COMP SYSTEM is even BETTER than that at the IP in Biloxi. First of all, they own all (3) casinos so you use the same Players Club card at all 3 casinos, This really helps the comps add up fast.

I would suspect that if you are PENNY players like us, you will not pay for a meal in WENDOVER. The only exception might be if you go to the STEAKHOUSE at the RAINBOW, as that is a little more expensive.

I would say that all the buffets (there are 3 as they have one at each casino) are very comparable to that the IP.

Brian,

Thanks again for that info at Wendover. Using the same card will definitely be an advantage there, especially if we plan to visit all 3 sasinos there. Did you hear that they are or are in the process of changing their comp procedures there this week? I read that post from a person on the forum that frequents Wendover from Utah oe Nevada.
