United Nations Monetary and Financial Conference

We are traveling to Bretton Woods in mid-October 2007. We would like to visit the site of the United Nations Monetary and Financial Conference ("the Bretton Woods Conference") where representatives from 45 nations met in July 1944 at the Mount Washington Hotel to regulate monetary and financial order after WWII. This conference set up the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade, and the International Monetary Fund. Are there exhibits available that tell visitors about the conference, where it was held, where representatives stayed, etc? We also would like to know if there are posted visiting hours for these exhibits. Thank you.

There are some exhibits but remember it is a hotel and not a museum.

Also, there was construction this summer which made it difficult to just drive up to the hotel unless you were a guest. I don't know if that is gone but something you can ask about.

The "Gold Room" where formal documents were signed is in fact open for viewing, and currently houses a display from the NH Historical Society. I do not belive there are any formal hours, as it's right off the lobby which is open 24/7.

They do usually conduct daily tours a couple times a day (free) but there is a fee of $8 per person (which you get back in form of credit to use toward purchases in the hotel). Then again, I've heard that may lift after the holiday weekend, so you may get lucky!
