yes, its quite safe walking from Pavonia/Newport PATH station to the Doubletree suites even late at night. check out the link provided by the other poster for the schedules but on weekends i believe trains run every 15-20 minutes.

When you get off at the 33rd street station, as soon as you walk through the turnstiles, there are stairs leading down to trains which will take you uptown. Almost every single train going uptown from that point stops at Times Square.

Yes, the area is very safe. I've lived here all my life and have never had any problems when coming back from the City late at night.

Late nights and weekends, the PATH runs about every half an hour. Oh and just an FYI - During regular hours, the PATH runs from Journal Square to Grove Street to Pavonia/Newport, then to New York (Christopher St, 9th, 14th, 23rd & 33rd). But nights and weekends, the train goes to Hoboken after Pavonia/Newport and that adds an extra 15 to 20 minutes to your ride.
