Recommend a Wine Tour

We are staying in Franschhoek for 3 nights in September, after touring the Garden Route with a driver. As the driver finishes in Franschhoek and s we don't drive could anyone recommend an operator that can take us on a wine tour, We have got the name of one and that is La Rochelle Tours has anyone been with them.? Would it be best to do a day wine tour or a half day tour also we would like to go the motor museum would we need transport ?

I would do a full day private tour. You can then combine a visit to the Motor Museum with wine tasting as you will need transport to get there.

If you are using a guide for the Garden Route, why not use the same person for your wine tour? Hopefully, you will have established a good relationship with him/her by this point.

Alternatively, look on the forum for recommendations for a guide.

Hi there

I have to agree that you can use the same guy for the Wine Lands Tour and then include the visit to the motor Museum. The Museum is about 20mins from Franschoek and will be worth it to visit. The town of Franschoek is very small, why don't you take one of the nights and stay maybe in Stellenbosch.

The agent that sorted our holiday out for us just arranged for us to have a guide til we reach Franshoek and we already have three nights booked at the hotel. We thought it would be easy to do a tour or get a guide to take us around the wineries an other places of intrest.

Hi there

I have to say that there a big amount of things to do in and around Franschoek, Paarl and Stellenbosch. All within driving range of about 20-30mins. A tour guide with vehicle for the day will cost you about R1300.00, also fees for wine tasting at about 4 Wine Estates. Most companies will give you that as a going rate for the day in and around Cape Town. You will then also be able to do this tour at your own pace.

Try wine tasting on horseback. Paradise stables in Franschhoek are fantastic. We've done it twice. You don't need to be a rider (my hubby certainly isn't!!!) he loved it so much he wanted to go again the following day. You get to visit two wineries and taste maybe 4 of their wines. Paradise Stables have a web site, check it out.
