Akademie Street or Le Quartier Francais

We have plans to stay in one or the other of these two accommodations. Just need to hear opinions from other travellers who have stayed there please and whether 2 nights is long enough or should we stay 3?

Neep - a difficult question as they are somewhat different and both are excellent - we have been to Franschhoek five times and Akademie is winning 3-2 at the moment - if possible go for Gelatenheid at Akademie - it is wonderfully private = LQF of course has two good restaurants en site and the nicer swimming pool

LQF is basically a series of chalet style rooms centred around a communal swimming pool and garden - it is arguably better known for its restaurants including The Tasting Room, one of the best fine dining restaurants in SA (but also comparatively expensive)

Akademie is more like a guesthouse although Gelatenheid is a wonderfully private house in ts own right (all the rooms are nice) - overall a bit smaller and quieter but run superbly by Arthur and Katrine. No restaurant but then it is only 100 metres to LQF and other great restaurants

If pressed I agree with Alicia - it has to be Akademie - read the reviews on the main TA site - they are not wrong
