Places for young people to stay in Seminyak

So being that I just recently came back from Thailand and stayed in a couple of hotels that attracted the older and family crowds... I have been dying not to make the same mistake again.

I am 24 years of age and while I do not consider myself 'rowdy', I would like to stay somewhere that does not attract families.

My cousin and I are spending 5 nights in Kuta where we will no doubt be doing a little bit of partying in pretty average accomodation. We plan to spend 4 nights in Seminyak where we hope to enjoy some more luxurious accomodation.

I am finding it difficult to find nice accomodation that has reviews from people around my age. It's usually 'Oh this was a lovely stay for me and my husband' or 'This hotel was fantastic for me and my 10 children' etc.

I love to socialise with people around my age while on holiday. I am not expecting 5 star, private villa, personal butler, 2 hour long massage every day accomodation... however we are looking to stretch our nightly budget to AUD$200 per night (Through cheap deals found on wotif, agoda etc) seeing as we are spending AUD$70 per night in Kuta.

I am just interested in a nice bedroom, with a nice pool (ideally with a swim up bar!!), in a good location with people around 20-30 years of age.

We are checking in on Monday 30th July and checking out Friday 6th.

So if anyone can make any reccomendations as to where we can stay, I would be very grateful! :D

Not going to happen. You need to leave ageist attitides at home when travelling :)

The best you can do is go for resorts that don't favour families, but you can't expect to find only the young in Seminyak. In fact most of us stay there to escape the clubbers and late night revellers who shout from balconies . If it's a more lively hotel scene you want, I suggest staying in Kuta. Legian is very family oriented.

You can look at the Niksoma , Ramada Camakila, Royal beach Seminyak which is lovely, but i fear will they be too serene for what you seek and they ceratinly don't just cater for under 30's.

Unfortunately you are describing at resort that doesn't exist. However, I agree that the Padma is your best bet. I am 27 and I used to love the social scene at the main pool of the padma. You will find a mixed demographic there. I now choose to stay with my partner in a private villa.

As mentioned above, many people choose to stay in Seminyak to escape the noisy party goers.

You can always stay in Legian and go to Seminyak during the day/evening.

thats a tough one.

cheaper hotels usually attract younger crowds because that fits their budget.

The higher priced hotels are usually for the older crowd trying to avoid the party animals, and yes, that might mean they will bring their kids along with them.

School holidays will also attract more families, so I would keep that in mind.

I would just search hotels in the kuta area in your budget and see what you come up with. Then do the same for your splurge at the end.

Even so, it doesnt mean that you might be sitting at the pool bar next to an oldie or even being dive bombed by a couple of kids.

Its the luck of the draw in my opinion.

Good luck and I hope you come up with the perfect accommodation.

Have a look at Travelfish.org which caters for "Flashpackers" Might help in your search for something a bit upmarket in the Seminyak area. Good luck and have fun.

i would also suggest Breezes in Seminyak - this used to be the Contiki Resort in Bali so attracts younger crowds. Has a great pool with swim up bar where they play music through the day. Happy hour as well :) Rooms are quite basic but do the job.

Sentosa Resort may be an option. Villa style accommodation, but they do have a central pool restaurant area. It is a bit expensive and maybe a bit too 'trendy crowd' but may be worth a look.

Or you might be better off to rent a villa close to Eat St or to Kudeta.. That way you can go out each night and enjoy a bit af night life, but return home to peace.

We stayed in Seminyak last year without our kids (we are all mid forties). We like a drink, good food and some music. Have been known to be a little on the lively side. We were never bored in Seminyak, but were able to avoid the Club atmosphere. We found a couple of great places - Sea Circus in particular had a late 20s crowd with some laid back music, good some excellent live music Zapaz Bar in Eat St was fantastic. Probably a slightly older crowd, but they also had some great live music (check out the local guitarist).

The Champagne Bar down the road is more "Club" like, but is probably tame by Kuta standards.

Not fancy but an on the beach hotel Puri Saron (book a bungalow room) had a decent pool bar atmosphere and a hop skip and a jump to the beach bars like La Plancha which has a great vibe and cocktails well into the night. You are still close by to Kudeta and Potoato Head and an easy walk to Cocoon which is a great spot too. Money you save staying here (thinking around $150 per night) , you can spend on better cocktails at the nicer bars..have fun!
