There are no reviews for these places but I wanted to let people know about them. One is a great bar on the river side of the strand, don't know the name, probably no English signage, but we ended up having beers here every night watching the sun go down. 600k per large glass of beer. Great views over to the islands with lovely laid back family service, and hardly anybody else there, I don't know why because it was fantastic.
After that we would generally walk the line of BBQ stalls along the strand opposite the police station, stopping at 3 or 4 of them for dinner. Each have a selection of meat, seafood and veg and all do different marinades, so good to try a variety. Many tourists are too apprehensive to eat on the street, no need to worry.
The other great place was for breakfast, again no English signage, a tea shop selling great mohinga and fantastic dahl and aloo curry with the best breads you've ever seen. Include 2 teas and the total price was ...1500ky unbelievable value. This is in lower main road one block south from the Ngwe Moe on the strand. Worth looking for.
