Advice re camps in Sabi/Timbavati

We are heading to S Africa for a safari, intending to do one camp in Sabi Sands (possibly Dulini) and one in Timbavati. We are really struggling to decide where to go for the second camp. We want a different experience in each one, we love having a room on the river or overlooking a water hole or lake, we like quite a high level of luxury but don't want to pay STG£1,000 per person per night for it.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks.

We went to Umlani and it was spectacular. The rondavels are on the banks of a riverbed & the breakfast/lunch area overlooks a watering hole. The staff there are fabulous - all work well as a team & nothing is ever too much trouble. The food is lovely and the wildlife is phenomenal - the trackers are excellent - especially Moses & Shadi. The rondavels themselves are beautiful and the camp is run without electricity, adding to the rustic and romantic feel. A truly wonderful experience - www.umlani.com

Hi,

if you are considering Dulini in the Sabi Sand (very nice camp, by the way) Ngala in the Timbavati area might be an option for you. Dulini and Ngala are both run by &Beyond and combining both camps might have an positive effect on the rate as they have specials at certain times of the year.

In Ngala you have two choices, the bigger Ngala Safari Lodge and the smaller, more intimate Ngala Tented Camp. The Tented Camp is definitely a special experience; you are "closer" to nature as you are staying in a very luxurious safari tent. My clients always love it.

Game viewing is great in both reserves but I am sure you've heard that before.

Have fun planning your vacation and enjoy your safari time as it will be an unforgettable experience.
