accommodation gansbaai/de kelders

I find it difficult to choose from the 4/5* accommodation in Gansbaai. I would like to have a nice room with balcony/terras ocean views, swimming pool, etc. close to (fine) restaurants. Any recommendation(s)?

Hi I would recommend looking at Stanford as it is a quiant cape village with 4* and 6 * accommodation, great night life and activities. 20 km from Hermanus and Gansbaai - AND MUCH MORE FUN!!!!

Hi there

You might just want to have a look at this Luxury Retreat, in Stanford. www.mosaicfarm.net , 30mins away from Hermanus and Gansbaai. They are right next to the lagoon with very good walking trails that you can take from the Retreat. They can arrange transport for you if needed, when you feel like going out for the night without having to drive.

I've recommended guests to the following properties and have had excellent reviews from all of them...

In no particular order:

Sea Star Lodge,

Cliff Lodge and

De Kelders Private Villa

Accommodation is such a personal thing, go and have a look and see which one speaks to you the most.

With love,

If you want to see whales out of your window, then de Kelders is the place to be and not Stanford. I have stayed at both places on holiday and like them both for different reasons. De Kelders has beautiful cliff walks and you can get really close to the whales. Some fantastic accommodation with views over the bay. We stayed at Umnenge Lodge and would definitely recommend it. However, not much in the way of places to eat. We drove into Gansbaii one night.....Stanford like the others have said is another great Overberg village. There are some excellent restaurants here, nice antique shops, good to stroll around the village, walk along (or canoe) the river but no ocean views or whales!!

The Roundhouse B&B in De Kelders http://www.theroundhouse.co.za is an excellent 4-star Gansbaai B&B.

The rooms are fantastic - very comfortable and wonderfully decorated.

The views are spectacular from most of the rooms as The Roundhouse is 3 stories high and offers a great wrap around balcony.

Dave and Elna (the owners) will also be more than happy to make suggestions about restaurants and what to do in the area. Plus, they offer a in house booking office and car hire, so you don't have to worry about making all those arrangements yourself.

You should definitely check out this Gansbaai guest house if you want all of the things you mentioned. Good luck!
