visiting Chobe and Victoriafalls

We're planning to visit Chobe national park in Botswana and the Victoria falls.

Its seems we're having a hard time to find affordable accomodations, they alle seem to be luxury 5* lodges, whitch is above our budget, and so not necesarry to us.

Any information about budget friendly accomodation is welcome.

We wil have only 4 nights to visit the area. Would it be best to stay first 2 nights in Victoria falls and afterwards 2 nights in Chobe, or is it best to pick one place as a base.

Thanks all for the feedback.

The Independent Camps in Botswana tend to be a bit more affordable to guests.

Try looking at Camp Savuti or Camp Linyanti (officially opens May 2012).

In Vic Falls:

Zambia - Maramba River Lodge, The Bushfront, or Zambezi Waterfront

Zimbabwe - Savanna Lodge, Victoria Falls Rest Camp, Sprayview Hotel, Rainbow Hotel

All very economical options.

It is cheaper to stay in the Kasane region than in the Linyanti or Savute areas of Chobe National Park and if it is your first time to Botswana, Chobe River area/Kasane is a good introduction. It is busy and regulated (so not as 'wild' as in the Okavango or Linyanti areas) but the game is good, acocmmodation very reasonable and so on.

Kwaplape Lodge

Chobe Safari Lodge

Kubu Lodge

All good value options, defintely not 5 star!

Based in Kasane town and access Chobe National Park by road and boat in their activities (usually 3 hour morning activity and 3 hour afternoon activity). so it is not as 'inclusive' as a lodge in the bush but the price reflects this and it is up to you what you have the budget and 'need' for.

Jeremy has covered great value options in the Vic Falls area for you.

I agree with Jeremiah on the Vic falls accommodation.

In Kasane there are two more lower budget options which are worth considering. these are Thebe river safaris, they have a lodge and organise activities. The other one I went to look at last time i was ther that looked pleasant is the Old Post House.
