Planning a rip to Cooperstown with our 6 year old grandson

My husband and I are planning a trip to Cooperstown with our 6 year old grandson who is an avid BB fan. We would like to be able to take him to a BB game and the HOF and then maybe Howe Caverns. When will we find BB being played up there and what hotels would you recommend? Any suggestions would be welcome.

How long were you planning to stay and what season of the year? Weekend or mid week for your stay?

We are not fixed on any particular season. We want to go when he would be able to see a game being played. It could be a triple A league or little league, but it would be fun for him to watch since he's a lover of the game and plays himself. As far as the length, just a weekend so we want to fill it with age appropriate activities. We also thought a visit to Howe Caverns would be fun while we were there. If you have suggestions please make them. Lodging, food and activities are all welcome. We live about a 3 hour drive so it is not a travel problem for us.

Your plan sounds great. Howe Caverns is wonderful. If you want to be between Cooperstown & the Caves, chose a village to the north of Cooperstown-- like Schuyler Lake or Cherry Valley. As for baseball, the Dreams Park has the end day (Thursdays) of their tournament open to visitors, just check with them to verify they will be doing it again this year. Then in September there are a number of adult games through the Double Day Fields web site.

The nearby small city of Oneonta (30 minutes away) has a single A baseball team - season goes from June to Labor Day. Oneonta may also be a much cheaper lodging option than Cooperstown depending on when you visit.
