Day trip to La Digue

We're staying on Praslin in June and want to do a day trip to La Digue Ferry/hiring Bikes. Do we need to book the ferry in advance? And have been studing a map of la Digue but could do with help in which order its best to explore the island including any suggestions where to stop for lunch.

Thanks very much We're already counting down the days!

My favorite place for lunch would be the restaurant behind the beach at Grande Anse. You can sit with your feet in the sand and enjoy a cold beer and the fabulous "all you can eat" barbeque with a great choice of meat, fish, salads and fruit.

Grande Anse, is also good if you like the sea to be more than knee deep, and not to need water shoes for protection from broken coral. Many of the other beaches look wonderful, but are not much good if you actually want to go in the water.

You cannot do a circular cycle tour of the island, so you have to make your own decision about whether to go north first, or south. You couild reach the end of the road, in either direction, in under an hour, but you will want to stop every few minutes to take in the scenery, and to cool off.

Hi, we did not book the ferry in advance. We just turned up at the terminal and bought return ticket from Praslin to La Digue.

An alternative lunch option is to stop at the store on La Digue (turn right out of La Passe village and its just a few min on a bike) and get some stuff for a picnic on one of the beaches.
