We are off to Gambia in april, and staying at hotel bakuto, can anyone give us tips about eating and drinking out, and anything else
Thanks. Stu and kay
Hi, we just came back from there and there are 3 restaurants attached to the hotel, Boss Lady which faces the road so great for people watching. we went our first night as thought a good place just to acclimatise. The food is Gambian stews & such, very tasty. Then there is a restaurant by the pool bar which is fine & reasonable with limited choices but all good. There is also Captains Table which is by far the poshest & most expensive but well nice ( we went twice in our week stay) there are a few other places within easy walking distance such as curry & pizza & we loved paradise beach bar which is about a 10 minute walk. We didn't venture all that far as we had HB with the hotel but enjoyed it so much we are going back next year
Thanks for that, what about cost of food and drink
Stu nd kay
Beer in the hotel is 45 so around a £ & wine is 125 but it is big glass, cheaper out & about, We spent most lunch times at beach bar where meals around 150 to 200 & beer cheaper. Captains table with amazing meals was £7 to £10 ish for mains but I think this must be more expensive than most placesEdited: 16 March 2012, 18:45
Thank you, we are both looking forward to our trip to Gambia

It was our first time & we both loved it, considering husband went under sufferance! He soon changed his mind! One thing was very different for us, we usually go to Egypt & the English are very much in the minority. The Gambia is all english signs plus everyone is either English speaking or seem to come from Holland or Sweden & put us to shame as they speak great English. We met some lovely people out there & much as we are fine with our own company it made a great change to end up in a relaxed crowd of new friendsEdited: 16 March 2012, 19:14
