Need help with our first Gambia Trip

Please can anybody help us who has recently been to Gambia. We are hoping to stay at the Kombo. We are interested in Wildlife birdwatching sunsets. Anybody recommend river trips would be much appreciated. We would like to eat out in the local area. What sort of food would you recommend, would try anything, price, restaurant guide,

Look forward to hearing from you and thanks for helping us out,

If you try the 'search' you can get previous threads on these.

Personally I liked the 'Afra', or grilled meat stalls. About £1 for a good portion.

Hi, stayed at the Kombo in November 2010 (first trip to Gambia) - loved it. Can highly recommend the Beef Benachin at Veejays (just round the corner from the hotel) and the menu at Love 2 (the Strip) was fabulous.

Sorry I can't advise on river trips or birdwatching, but the sunset from the beach to your left as you walk onto the beach from the Kombo is absolutely amazing. I posted a couple of our photos on the Kombo Beach Hotel Facebook pages. Have a fantastic holiday.

Hi Just back, it was our first trip too

From Senegambia we

Went on a three night trip with Tillys Tours, very very good.

First night was at the Bintang Bolong, nice little lodges on the river. and a lovely village before you enter, invited us to join their dancing.

Second night was at Tendaba, Great river trip, so many birds, watch the crocs, basic accomodation, added to the experience.

Third night was at the Sindola Lodge, beside the Presidents Village.

Very nice, but just like being in a hotel, no experience like the other, but hot water and elec was appreciated. Dident see too many animals here, but got to hold a Python,
