Just got back from our annual week in Lake George. We have been going from the early 80s. My kids are now 27 and 21 and they still look forward to it every year. The weather was absolutely perfect last week. No humidity and we needed sweatshirts at night. The Lake, as always, was crystal clear. We rent a cabin for the week so we eat breakfast and dinner there but normally go out to lunch. Places we ate for lunch: Algonquin -- food was good and it's right on the lake. Service is slow so don't be in a hurry. Docksider -- my favorite lunch place. It's on Glen Lake about 10 minutes from the Village; King Neptune's Pub -- this made a comeback for me. After not going to it for the last couple of years because it went downhill, it now has new owners, a new menu and they remodeled the outside. Indoor renovations will be done after the summer. Menu was good and service was excellent. Shephard's Cove -- a Lake George staple. Best view in the Village. On our last night, we always go out to dinner. We went to Lakeside in Bolton Landing. It's not on the lake despite it's name but they have a very nice porch. They changed their menu and they don't have great choices. I doubt we will go back. After dinner, we went to the Sagamore for dinks. Absolutely beautiful! Activities: miniature golf, golf (husband and son) at Country Meadows; antiquing (Glenwood Manor in Queensbury); Saratoga Race Track (always on our agenda for Monday) and then a stroll through downtown Saratoga. My husband and I went back during the week to visit the shops again and had lunch at Druthers. The kids went to Great Escape because you are never too old for the Comet! Buy tickets from Quality Inn. They are the cheapest. You don't have to be a guest to buy them. Cash only. My only complaint is that it is really time that they do something with the Village. It is so outdated and run down. The shops are tacky. It's a little sad because the lake is so beautiful. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask away!
