I am driving to lake placid from Kingston, ontario. What is the most scenic route as I am retired and not in any hurry?
Head east on the 401 and take the 1000 Islands Parkway from Gananoque. At the end of the Parkway, get back on the 401, take the 1st exit onto the number 2. Drive along the water, through Brockville and Prescott and take the bridge there over to Ogdensburg. Head to Lake Placid through Canton and Postdam.
On the way back head west through Tupper Lake and Gouverneur and cross back at the 1000 Islands bridge and make a short stop at the 1000 Islands Skydeck.
While at Lake Placid, the 73 towards Keene is a pretty drive.
