Will we have enough time?

We will be arriving Niagara Falls US side, around 3:00 PM on September 4th. We will be leaving the next day around 2:00 PM. Would we have enough time on the 4th to do Cave of the Winds that afternoon and see some of the park? The next morning we planned on doing Maid of the Mist. We're hoping it won't be too crowded that time of year. Also, can we walk across Rainbow bridge and get back into US side with a drivers license and birth certificate? Passports are $99 per/person and we might not even use them again.

Thanks for any info you can give.

The days after Labor Day will be very slow, so you should have no problem doing both those.

Yes, you can walk across the bridge and you only need the license and BC.

Similar question--I think I will be in the area the last week of June. Niagara Falls isn't my main destination, but I have to go through Buffalo and can't imagine passing it up. I have 1-2 days to be flexible and expect to stay over one night.

I'm not too interested in shopping, casinos, or night life. Mostly I want to enjoy the natural splendor.

What kind of time frame should I allow for a good experience? Do I have to drive a lot to the the different falls, or is there any commercial or public transportation?

For the sake of convenience, is it best to stay in the town of Niagara Falls NY? What are the price ranges on motels. No need for luxury, just clean and safe; something in the Days Inn, Econolodge, or Motel 6 class will do.

The American and Horseshoe Falls are within a quarter mile of each other. The cities of Niagara Falls, N.Y. and Niagara Falls, Ontario are right across the Niagara River from each other and both offer many hotels near the Falls. The U.S. side has the State Park, Goat Island, Maid of the Mist, and Cave of the Winds, all of which can be reached by walking or on the Scenic Trolley. The Canadian side has Queen Victoria Park, also Maid of the Mist, Journey Behind the Falls, White Water Walk, Aero Car, Niagara Glen, Butterfly Conservatory. These are much more spread out, but are on the Niagara Parks People Mover System hop on-hop off route.

For accomodations, you can check the hotel link on this page (or the Niagara Falls, Ont. page) for ratings and reviews.
