Trip Report

We just got back from our visit to NF earlier this week.

A brief breakdown, we arrived on Monday afternoon (stayed on the Canadian side at Quality Inn Clifton Hill). Walked to the Falls and went to Ripley's Believe it or not.

The next day, I had already purchased the Great Gorge adventure pass. The only things my family all agree upon that we did with that package was the Butterfly conservatory and the Maid of the Mist. We did not care for the White water walk and the Journey behind the Falls.

The last day we checked out of our hotel and went to visit the NY side. I am positive the girls were kind of tired of the waterfalls so we went to the Aquarium of Niagara. We all enjoyed it and honestly it was the cheapest attraction that we had the entire trip! It was a little on the small size but honestly, it was the only place we felt we were not ripped off! We caught the sea lion show and everyone had a great time! I highly recommend it! We then walked over the pedestrian bridge and caught the trolley (only $5 for the entire family!) and toured the American side. From everything I heard from both forums, I thought it would be a run down, neglected park (well I guess in the canadian forums saying their side is nicer), I was really shocked, it was really nice! I actually thought it was prettier on this side! It seemed more of a natural park like the way God intended it. I really wanted to do the Cave of the Winds, but the girls were tired from the previous day. I am disappointed that we did not stay 1 more night on the NY side, I think we would of liked it. Oh, side note, the whole time we were in Canada we did not see a rainbow from the falls- which surprised us, but at terrapin point we saw the only rainbow the whole time, the girls we starting to not believe us that you can see rainbows from the falls. Anyways, I really enjoyed this side a lot more- my hubby and I thought the rapids to the American Falls were kind of cool too! We then left cause the girls (of course) and went to Smokin Joes for smokes (of course). My hubby and I are hoping that next year we can get a sitter for the weekend and we can go visit the NY side on our own to do the Cave of the Winds and the Casino. All in all we had a great time. I just wish that we were able to do more on the American side, but that just means we will have to come back again!

Thank you everyone for your advice!

We will be going to the American side on Sun. and were wondering about the aquarium. Did you get to see any of the animal feedings like the sharks? What day do they have the shark feedings do you know? Also do they have a dolphin show? We are staying on NY side two days then heading to Can. side for two days. Seeing natural sites on Ny side and doing Clifton Hill things on Can. side. Will see the falls once while in Can. , and from our hotel. Thanks in advance, for your help on the aqurium.

Hi! Unfortunatley, we did not see the shark feedings, they did not have the days posted on the sign, but it did say everyother day. I don't believe that they have dolphins- at least I did not see any, they had a sea lion show- which was nice, they have a harbor seal show in the early morn.- I think it said 10- we just missed it, I believe that the sealion show was about 10:30, they also have something going on with the penguins in the morning too! I do have to say that it is a small aquarium, but it is nice, you can tell they have been trying to update it! I honestly have to say it was the only attraction- besides the Falls attractions, that we felt like we did not get ripped off! I do recommend it!! If you are going to Clifton Hill, a lot of the souviner shops have coupon books, we did like Ripley's and The Great Canadian Midway (a 2 story arcade place, skeeball! We enjoyed that). I don't recommend The Fun House, cost $28 for 7 min. Have fun! Oh, in Canada there is a Mairneland- they said it is like Seaworld, we didn't go cause we thought it was pricey and we heard not so good reviews of it- far spaces between attractions and some people felt bad for the animals.

Have Fun!

Fanofsteelers,

Thanks for all of your help. My kids will love the aquarium. We are not doing Marineland either. Way too pricey for us. Glad you had fun on your vacations and thanks for sharing your thoughts with us!!!!!!

Glad you had fun on the American Side! I have never been on the other side, as Canada's part is better (at least that is what people tell me, and when I went it was amazing!) =P, but i'll have to check it out next time I go.

Thanks a lot for the aquarium schedule . This will help us plan our time there as we will also be going over to the Canadian side that day, and checking into another hotel. We leave on Father's day, can't wait!!!

Great report.

We have been trying to tell everyone for a long time, that one thing that New York State does well is Parks.

The US side of the Falls is just that a wonderful and pristine Park.

The hotels are not as good, or as plentiful, and we don't have the honky tonk atmosphere of Clifton Hill. But if you want to just witness a wonder of the World Niagara Falls New York is the place to do it.

Sorry you missed the Cave Of the Winds, it really is something special. Also Whirlpool Park and Devil's Hole, the view is spectacular and the park is clean and pretty, a nice place for a picnic.
