Taxi from Amtrak Station, NFL,NY to a hotel in US side

Hi,

We (me, my husband and my parents) are planning to visit Niagara Falls from US side only. We are planning to go there from NYC and return by Amtrak train. I'd like to know if taxis are available from Amtrak station at NFL,NY at around 8:30 pm. I'd be really helpful if anyone can suggest us any contact no. for the taxi. Also, any suggestions about the hotel (US side) and 'things to do for US side' are most welcome.

Thanks.

The Amtrak station is located in a residential/industrial area a few miles from the Falls, so taxis will be waiting when the train arrives, as it is really the only transportation available.

Hotel will depend on budget and 'what to do' depends on your likes and the time of year.

Thanks for the info. We are planning to visit from 30 Aug-02 Sept. I'd like to know if only one day is enough to cover the attractions on the US side.

Thanks.

The Discovery Pass includes just about all of the attractions on the U.S. side (Maid of the Mist, Cave of the Winds, Aquarium, Discover Center, Adventure Theater, Trolley). That being the Labor Day weekend, it could be busy, but you should be able to do them all in one day.

Since you don't have a car, you'll want to stay close to the Falls. You can try: Sheraton at the Falls, Comfort Inn the Pointe, The Giacomo, Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn or even the Senaca Casino Hotel.

Thanks for the suggestions. Are the above mentioned hotels within walking distance from the falls?...or is there any shuttle service available from the hotels?

We got Amtrak from NYC to Niagara Falls NY Amtrak station on 4th August 2013 - we arrived in Niagara Falls, NY station at 10.30pm and there weren't any taxi's waiting, The taxi which was collecting the train crew called his company and they sent a car for us - we wanted to go over the bridge to a hotel in Canada and the taxi was able to take us.

Call Sam on (716) 579 0621 - he was great and came back the next evening to collect us and take us back to Amtrak Buffalo to catch our next train.

Can't comment on activities as we were on the Candian side, but even then, a day was long enough.

Hope this helps.

FYI...an American taxi picking-up a fare within Canada, would be operating illegally.

Best Regards
