We are travelling to Zanzibar via Nairobi in a few weeks and in light of the news about possible terrorist activity in Kenya including Nairobi - just a little concerned. We are staying 2 nights in Stone Town ( Kholle House) and 10 nights at Echo Beach resort. How safe does everyone feel walking around the coast and StoneTown particularly?

1. Re: safety

I don't think anywhere in Tanzania has been affected by the same problems as Kenya. Security is fairly strict at the beach resorts, and there's not a lot of places to walk to at night, anyway. Stonetown is fine, but it would be quite easy to get lost in the alleyways, so I would take taxis at night or ask for an escort, say, from the restaurant to the hotel, if you haven't got your bearings.

2. Re: safety

Zanzibar and Tanzania as whole is safe.

The Khole House does not have a complicated direction because is on the second row of the main street. Is behind Old Dispensary

Can walk and the road to it is very Safe.

For the beach side is highly recommended to walk during day time only and is very safe.
