Zanzibar to Amsterdam flights

We are flying from Zanzibar to catch a flight to Amsterdam. Our operator says we have get taxi to the International airport once arriving. She said to beware unscrupulous taxi drivers. Is it far between airports. How much would taxi cost (October). Any other info most welcome

Insufficient info here.

You are flying from ZNZ to DAR for the flight to AMS?

Then you will be on the same airport, Julius Nyere International. (DAR).

You may land at the Domestic Terminal but that is less than 15 minutes away from Intl. Some flights from ZNZ actually disembark at INtl so no transfer at all.

Your carrier may even put on a free transfer. ask them.

If by chance your flight from ZNZ lands in Dar at the Domestic terminal and you have to get to the International one, taxi shouldn't cost more than USD$10 and that might actually be higher than should, but sure not something I'd have a fight with driver about.

Unless someone actually knows the price... please add to this thread.

Who are you flying with? If Coastal, they have a minibus for the transfers.

The problem arises if you land at domestic too long before your international flight. They won't let you into the international terminal more than xxx number of hours before your flight. Sorry don't know how many hours it is. They offered us a "tour to Slipway Mall?" to kill a few hours and have dinner. Something like $15 to $20 each. Also keep in mind, you don't want to depart Zanzibar to late as sometimes they bump passengers I was told.

Bump. The sound you make as they reveal you have no seat on the plane despite a valid ticket and even a boarding pass.

Technical term is "denied boarding!"

jayfell - airlines often sell more tickets than they have seats, in the expectation that several passengers won't turn up. It happens more often than you would think.

However, when everyone DOES turn up, then they have to prioritise boarding - usually by the most loyal travellers or biggest spenders getting priority. If you do get bumped you will probably be well compensated and looked after and put on the next plane.....
