Honeymoon in Santorini
Save

Hi,

I am planning our honeymoon on July 2018. I have heard Oia is the place to stay, however the luxurious hotels I want are VERY expensive.

I want our santorini part of the trip to be the most romantic and relaxed. I want a hotel that has restaurants nearby.

I can get a luxurious hotel in Imerovigli for about 2/3 of the price in Oia, is it worth it? or should I just stay in Oia. I have a budget of about $400 dollars per night.

HELP! If you can recommend hotels that would be great too :)

Imerovigli has the best overall caldera and sunset views because it has the highest elevation over the sea. That said, there are only a small handful of shops and restaurants there. Oia is the most beautiful and romantic village on the island and there are an abundance of shops, restaurants, cafes and galleries there but it also gets very busy in July because of its popularity. Yes, the top hotels are very expensive in Oia but where you choose to stay will depend on what you want for that $400. "Luxury" means different things to different people. If a full-service hotel that offers privacy and a sense of exclusivity is what you're after, and you've found that in Imerovigli, you should probably go ahead and book it. $400 won't give you that in Oia. But if you want something more traditonal and self-catering, and you want to stay in Oia, check Olympic Villas, Old Oia Houses, Rimida Villas, Strogili Houses, Nikos Villas, Majestic View Studio, Golden Sunset Villas, Lucky Homes and Zoe Aegeas Houses. Some of these have pools, some don't. There's a very nice public access pool in Oia that's free if you buy food and/or drinks. It's a great place to sit and watch the sunset away from all the hordes of lookie-loos. http://www.lioyerma.gr

Thank you so much brotherleelove. I have realized whatever I wanted will not find for that price in Oia. What do you think of Kima Villa?

Kima Villas has an excellent location and when I saw the rooms they were clean and comfortable. Take a look at the reviews here on TA. http://tinyurl.com/y93yl49o

Brotherleelove!

Last time bothering you (in regards to hotels at least)

If it was you personally, what would you choose:

*Stay in Santorini Princess Luxury Spa (5 star) in Imerovigli in the Luxury apartment

or

*Stay in Kima Villa (3 star) in Oia in the superior suite cave (has an outdoor jetted tub) for $400USD more (total)

Promise I will stop after this :)

THANKS!!!! YOU ARE GREAT

Marie,

I agree that you will probably enjoy Oia the most as this area with the breathtaking post card like views that comes to mind when you think of in Santorini. We stayed in-between Imerovigli and Oia and we where limited for dinner choices unless we went to one of the towns. We were there for 5 nights and if we were to do it again we would probably stay in Oia for 3 nights and 2 nights in one of the southern beach town like Perissa.

We are experienced ATV riders so we used them to get around and see the island. It took some getting used as it is pretty crazy but we got comfortable pretty quickly. A lot of people do not recommend them but it worked for us and we definitely would not have gotten o experience as much as we did without them. We also took the bus at night to Fira and Oia.

I would also recommend one of the Caldara boat tours, we did the sunset cruise. We opted to pay a little more for tour with a smaller amount of people, 14 max I think. It was my favorite part of the trip.

I found this site the best for researching and planning the trip. Enjoy, you will have a blast!

Thanks Mike for the great recommendations!!!

I'll stay in Oia then, I want Santorini to be the best part of the honeymoon and will splurge a bit.

I will deff do the boat tour, I wasn't sure if the day trip or sunset, but if you recommend sunset then sunset it is!!!!!

I am also planning the wine tasting, do you know anything about this?

Should I buy tours online before I go, or get them there?

THANKS SO MUCH!
