Ammoudi harbor swimming

Just a heads up to those of you planing to swim off the platform in ammoudi harbor in oia...there was a pretty big landslide on the cliff there that blocks the path. We were told by someone in one of the restaurants that it happened a couple of weeks ago. There is a stop sign telling you the path is closed, but you can go around it. We decided not to try to climb over the sharp rocks because we were wearing sandals and didn't want to risk a slip and fall and ruin the rest of the trip. Some people were climbing over the jagged rocks, so if you think it's worth the risk, be sure to wear good shoes, not flip flops or leather soled sandals.

Thanks for the heads-up. Landslides are a fact of life down there and the path has been blocked before. Eventually it will be made safe.

We made the hike down there this past week and saw the path blocked off.

Did see some people jumping off the pier to the right and swimming in the sea

.What a walk....but what great photos and memories.

If you're sure-footed and are wearing jogging shoes/tennies you can probably just walk over the rocks.

I don't understand... We were down there on Aug 30 and did not see any slide or a Stop sign... It might've been further on the left... but still...

Water socks are a must of course - it is tough to get in/out. But what a wonderful swim!!!

Maybe it happened after Aug 30... it's possible, isn't it?

I suppose... What a pity - swimming there was an unbelivable experience - looking up on to red pumice caldera walls while on your back in blue water...

Well... that's the nature...

Hope nobody got hurt...
