Poughquag travel to New York

Hello. We are flying from Ireland to Boston on 11th August and will spend a few days there before travelling to Poughquag to stay with family there until return flight back on 25th August. What is the best way to travel between these two places?

I am a bit confused. The headline is Poughquag to New York, but Poughquag is in New York. Do you mean New York City? Or is the trip that you need help with is from Boston, MA to Poughquag, NY? You could fly from Logan in Boston to Stewart in Newburgh and then rent a car. It is about a 30 mile drive.

Talk to your family about how far they are willing to drive to pick you up (or drop you off) at a train station. Coming from Boston, one of the CT Amtrak stations could work, but stations are down along the coastline. Or you could take Peter Pan bus to Danbury, CT, which would be a bit closer for them.

To/From NYC, one of the Metro North Hudson stations would work (probably Fishkill) if they are willing to drive you.

Though you could get from Boston to Fishkill by train, you'd have to go all the way into NYC, then come back up. It would be better if they could drive down to CT to pick you up.

There is no Metro-North station in Fishkill.

Thanks everyone for replies.

I need help to organising travel from Boston to Poughquag. Is there a direct train or do we have to travel into Penn station.

How far is travel from Poughquag to New York centre for example Times Square. Is it on a subway route or local train line. Many thanks for your patience.

You could take a train from Grand Central Terminal to Pawling. From Pawling it is only about 7 miles to Poughquag. That is the closest railroad stop on Metro North. Poughquag is about 65 miles north of mid-town Manhattan. No subway or any direct connection.

How are you getting to New York City? Do you have to go to New York City? You could take a bus to Danbury as was suggested previously. Danbury is about 25 miles southeast of Poughquag. Poughquag is rather small place, part of the town of Beekman.

So you would arrive at Pennsylvania Station and then have to get to Grand Central to take a train to Pawling which is the closest train station to Poughquag. It is about 1 hour and 45 minutes by train to Pawling.
