restaurant gift certificate help, which one?

We are looking to give a gift certificate to a couple from Rochester. Looking to spend around $100. Any recomendations for fine dining, or just a nice romantic place to spend a special evening?

I would personally recommend Phillip's European for it's delicious food (lunch and dinner and the BEST desserts). They have excellent service too.

But I have also heard good things about Restaurant 2 Vine, although I have not yet tried it.

Hope that helps. :)

I agree with both of the previous suggestions. Both are great!

2Vine is nice and the food is good but it can be noisy and lacks intimacy. For a romantic dinner, Rooney's is probably my favorite.

I'd recommend Park Avenue Pub. It's in a nice, lively, young area and is a small, intimate restaurant (they also offer a small sidewalk cafe scene). I like Phillips European, but the location (strip mall suburb) is really dull.

Rooneys is also a great suggestion. It's excellent.

If they are music types you might go for Max at Eastman Place (although $100 will not cover the whole meal probably). It is right across the street from the Eastman Theater where many of Rochester's music events occur and so it makes an extra nice pre-concert dinner.
