I'm visiting New York in March and wanted to know if it's worth it to explore Staten Island?
I do not think so. If you want I would take the free Ferry to Staten Island and just return. The view of the Harbor is worth the time. Happy travels!
No, not worth your time. I agree just take the ferry from Manhattan to SI (its free) and well worth the view of the Statue of Liberty. Once you get to Staten Island there is no where to go and its actually not a very safe part of town so stay in the ferry station. There are places to grab something quick to eat and you might see a few "sideshows" (people have to audition to be able to play - so they are usually pretty good).
We're more than just a ferry......
