How much time to allow traveling from Utica to Plattsburgh taking route 28 to 30 to 3.
Looks to me to be about 260+ miles. It could take you about 6 hours non-stop.
That is the scenic route, certainly not the fastest! the estimate of about 6 hours is probably pretty close with a few stops..fastest ways from Utica are just under 3.5 hours, or through Old Forge to Tupper Lake and swinging east to pick up i-87, about 4 hours. The route you selected is stunningly beautiful, though, and as long as you are traveling outside of snow season, and not during summer peak road traffic..you should be there in under 6 hours on your route..remember, that most of these are two lane roads, and the Adirondacks are popular, so campers, trailers and "Sunday drivers" can slow you down! Have fun!
3 hours and 49 minutes, according to mapquest.com. That's if everything goes perfectly. John (above) is right about the potential for traffic to slow you down. And, there are faster routes, if that suits you.Edited: 03 April 2014, 19:49
