Silver beach

Hi travelling to silver beach in the last week of April....had some questions

1) what is the weather like during this time ?

2) how far are local restaurants and shops from the hotel? If there are any? What is the average cost of meal for two?

3) are motorcycles and cars available for rent easily? How much do they cost?

4) are there supermarkets nearby? What is the cost of drinking water bottle ?

5) what activities are recommended during free time ?

Hi,

Weather should be OK - I've been at Belle Mare just north of you during May and the wind wasnt a problem then.

However, be aware that Silver Beach does tend to catch the wind more than other east coast resorts - hence the windbreaks on the beach.

I looked round it a while ago now and its a basic 3* hotel - it does seem to get a lot of repeat guests.

The hotel is not close to nightlife or restuarants and the nearest decent supermarkets, shops and markets are a 15/20 min drive to Centre de Flacq where you can get a six pack 1.5 litre water for around 89MURs.

Hotels charge a lot more.

Your hotel should be able to help with car rental.

Activities see here:

And also check out the Top Questions (FAQs) in the right hand column of the main Mauritius forum.

This may help with restaurants:

Apologies for the belated reply :)

Stayed there a number of years ago, nice beach resort, the rooms were okay, food was nice, staff nice, as Bronia has said,Centre de flacq nearest big town with a supermarket for water etc at good price, last year we paid £40 for taxi to grand baia, half a day so good price, that was from the belle mare plage(a few miles from the silver beach) dress code was smart casual in the evenings if I remember rightly, also,we had half board, but changed it to all inclusive after the first day as the price of drinks was high(as most hotels in mauritius are) hope this helps, also as bronia has said do a bit of research and read some reviews...
